All of the underlings at CES (along with Dolan) fully believed that they were ushing a sevice that would survive. None were being cagey to think that they would sell a couple of hundred new subscribers (sad that that was all that added it after CES) under false pretenses.
I fully agree - although it's obviously speculation. This decision came from the board level. The people working on these improvements probably had absolutely no indication that this was coming. And at the same time, the members of the board probably had no idea what these projects were. They just saw the [lack of] dollars...

IMHO...

There is precedent, as has been mentioned. They must provide us with service for the length of our warranty, which in my case is still 14 more months. If not, we do deserve compensation.

They knew they were on the way out

Assets depends on total worth-if you have X-number at X-price you are worth X amount-if you can sign X amount of people before going to the table you have leverage. They are still running ad's on Discovery HD for a service that is history. As far as approval from the FCC that will breeze through because they are not a threat to any other provider, come on -26000 subs is dishwater in the sink, D* signs that every 21 days, and E*signs that every 45 days

Please name one brand sold new in the US that has only a one-year warranty. Bumper to bumper warranties are usually 3-5 years, going out to 10 years on certain component groups.

Rob.

Subaru, unless they've very recently changed. That's one, there are probably others. And domestic automakers were at the tail end of increasing their warranties from what was the standard 1 year 12,000 miles.

The point is, that they didn't do it because of any law, they did it because of competition. US warranty law is limited, but without it, "small ticket" items like many electronics and small appliances would have shorter warranties than they do.
