Hazard: An internal electrical connection can cause electrical arcing, charring or smoking inside the television, which pose a fire risk to consumers.

Just saw this report in the news as well. They said some internal parts could catch on fire, weird stuff...

I bet JVC would hate to have a lawsuit against them for a home, belongings, or even loss of life. That would really hurt/ruin their name.

Just wanted to thank you Mark for the heads-up on this. Purchased one of these sets in February, and had no knowledge of this whatsoever since neither JVC nor Sears notified me - and saw or heard nothing in the news about it. According to JVC, they will be changing out the board, but ok to continue using in the interim. But just to be on the safe side, I am going to unplug when not in use. Just an aside to this in case anyone should be interested---I absolutely LOVE this set. It has the best HD quality that I have ever seen. I also have a DLP and a LCD set at the present time--and have prevouusly had a RPCRT set just before this one. So I feel qualified to make this judgement. Am hooked up with Voom, so I have plenty of HD content from which to make this assessment(spelling)?. Anyway, thanks again Mark. If not for the Satellite Guys Forum, I might never have known this. Guess this is a very good example of why to send in the registration card even though it is not necessary for warranty.

I'm happy with my JVC RPCRT. I settled for it instead of the 55 in mits I wanted. I have only one prob with it that wouldn't bother most people, otherwise, it's an awesome set!
