FWIW, way too many people mistakenly pronounce the "Los" as "Las." It is Las Vegas; It is Los Angeles. Even professional announcers on TV don't pronounce it properly, but foreigners often do pronounce it properly (such as Brits) because they are carefully looking at the letters and pronounce as per the proper vowel sounds. .

Sounds like "Demolition Man" talk. After the great earthquake that finally hit California , the new rebuilt city was a combined Los Angeles and San Francisco into: San Angeles. Maybe Las Angeles would be a combined Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
