I (a Conexant employee) have been peeking anonymously around this forum for the last few months. Legally, I can't say a word about the other design wins or answer any questions you might throw my way (other than what's in the press releases), but I would like to see a little feed back from a job well done. I'm sure the other anonymous people would like to see the same.

Besides the H20's D* favorite button software, what does everyone think of the LG H20 so far?

Here's this morning's press release:

Conexant Solutions Selected by LG Electronics for World's First DVB-S2 Set-Top Box
Monday November 28, 8:00 am ET
New HDTV Receiver Deployed by Major North America Digital TV Provider

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 28, 2005--Conexant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNXT - News), a worldwide leader in semiconductor solutions for broadband communications and the digital home, today announced that LG Electronics, a global player in electronics products for the digital era, has incorporated the company's CX24126 satellite set-top box (STB) DVB-S2 demodulator and CX24118 advanced modulation 8PSK tuner in their new high-definition television (HDTV) receiver. LG's model H20 is the world's first set-top box based on DVB-S2, the industry's newest digital video broadcast standard. DVB-S2 leverages key developments in channel coding and modulation to provide up to a 35 percent capacity increase over the previous DVB-S standard. The H20 STB is currently being deployed by DIRECTV in the United States.

"We are pleased that our 'world's first' DVB-S2 chip has enabled LG Electronics to achieve a similar industry milestone with their new H20 set-top box," said Jeff Crosby, vice president and general manager of Conexant's Broadband Media Processing business. "Chips based on advanced modulation, coding and compression technologies are critical to completing the transition to new digital television services. This is a key area of focus for Conexant, and we will continue to develop innovative, cost-effective chips for this growing market segment."

"Conexant is the leader in front-end set-top box silicon solutions and is the only chip manufacturer to offer a fully proven and extensively tested DVB-S2 demodulator," said Dr. Choon Lee, director of DTV Lab for LG Electronics. "The early availability of their standards-compliant solution allowed us to be the first in the world to bring an advanced high-definition-based set-top box to market."

Conexant's CX24126 demodulator and forward error correction (FEC) decoder enables operators to offer additional content and services including HDTV channels and interactive services using existing bandwidth and infrastructure. The highly integrated CX24118 direct down conversion satellite tuner was designed to meet the stringent performance parameters required for advanced modulation 8PSK and DBS-S2 applications. Together, these two devices provide manufacturers with a complete front-end system solution that optimizes system performance.

Conexant offers a comprehensive suite of digital STB components and system solutions for worldwide satellite, terrestrial and cable entertainment broadcasting networks. The company's product offering includes silicon tuners, satellite demodulators, MPEG audio and video decoders, and dial-up modems for back-channel applications. Reference designs that help manufacturers reduce cost and speed time to market are also available, bundled with a range of operating systems, middleware, drivers and development tools.

Since the H-20 will be made from several companies, how can one tell/insure that the
box they get will be from LG??? Is there a model nbr or code# that D* uses?

D11-100(RCA) and D11-500(Humax) seem to have the same operating system but the boxes are slightly different.
