The netbook revolution started without MS Windows anywhere to be found - Linux dominated that segment.
But the moment MS realized it's not a fad, Windows was the default OS on 90% of the devices in 6 months.

Linux gets another shot with tablets.
According to ARM executives, over 50 iPad-like devices will hit the market this year. Powered by Linux.

The Chrome OS from Google might also have a say in this.
It is supposedly to be released 2H2010 and Schmidt confirmed it being on schedule.
