local install vs internet/800?

I've seen several posts suggesting finding local installers vs ordering thru the 800# or the internet...

1) do I get the same deals thru the local installer, or do they offer their own?
1b) can I use a club-dish discount thru the local installer?
1c) seems more likely that I could get stuck in a he-said-she-said situation with a local installer and the promotional offerings vs. doing online? (this is the downside that I fear)

2) does the local installer get a bigger commission if I go thru them (so they will be happier and do a better job) ?

3) if I order thru the dish website, is it just going to get subbed to one of the same local installers, or does it go to someone else?

4) along those lines, my zip is 27513.. looking for recommendations.

A1a. Local guys DO vary, but they can sometimes beat the direct deal, sometimes not.
A1b. Usually.
A1c. Get it in writing if you're fearful
A2. Usually, the local guy will NOT be doing your install unless you buy from them.
A3. As above, it usually stays in-house with DNSC and their $11/hour hacks.
A4. Try dumpcable.com
