I was reading where the google tv will be dropped to 99.00.Dish currently has the unit at 179.00.Does anyone think that Dish will perhaps go lower than the 99.00 ?It would be really nice to be able to get one for 79.00 or perhaps even 49.00.:):)

Where did you hear about the price drop

Here.

FREMONT, Calif., July 27, 2011 and MORGES, Switzerland, July 28, 2011 — Logitech International (SIX: LOGN) (Nasdaq: LOGI) today announced financial results for the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2012.

Sales for Q1 FY 2012 were $480 million compared to $479 million in Q1 FY 2011. Excluding the favorable impact of exchange rate changes, sales declined by 4 percent year over year. The Company posted an operating loss of $45 million, compared to operating income of $12 million in the same quarter a year ago. Included in Logitech’s Q1 FY 2012 operating loss is a $34 million charge to cost of goods sold due to a planned price reduction on Logitech Revue with Google TV. The net loss for Q1 FY 2012 was $30 million ($0.17 per share) compared to net income of $20 million ($0.11 per share) in Q1 of FY 2011. Gross margin for Q1 FY 2012, reflecting the charge related to repricing of Logitech Revue, was 26.1 percent, down from 35.3 percent one year ago.

Logitech’s retail sales for Q1 FY 2012 were flat year over year, with an increase in Asia of 29 percent, an increase in the Americas of 1 percent, and a decrease in EMEA of 14 percent. OEM sales decreased by 16 percent. Sales for the LifeSize division grew 34 percent.

In Q1, Logitech achieved strong growth in Asia, driven primarily by China. Also notable for the first quarter was continued sales momentum by the LifeSize division and a positive initial reception of the Company’s new tablet accessories.

While Logitech is making progress in improving operations in the Company’s EMEA sales region, the Q1 performance reflects sustained weakness in the region. The Company also experienced minimal sales growth in its Americas region, primarily due to very weak sales in the Digital Home category. Logitech’s loss in Q1 was compounded by the significant impact of the decision to reduce the price of Logitech Revue from $249 to $99 during Q2. The action was taken with the goal of accelerating adoption of the Google TV platform by removing price as a barrier to broad consumer acceptance.

In a separate announcement today, Logitech said that Chairman Guerrino De Luca has assumed the additional role of acting president and chief executive officer, succeeding departing CEO Gerald P. Quindlen.

“I resume my former role as CEO, on an acting basis, with unwavering commitment to Logitech and strong confidence in the Company’s future and growth potential,” said Guerrino De Luca. “My priorities will be to pursue our many opportunities with a strong sense of urgency and to renew the confidence in Logitech among all stakeholders.”

Outlook
For Fiscal Year 2012, ending March 31, 2012, Logitech has lowered its sales outlook from approximately $2.6 billion to approximately $2.5 billion. The Company has lowered its FY 2012 target for operating income from approximately $185 million to equal to or greater than FY 2011 operating income of $143 million.

Or maybe $100 with a $100 mail in rebate? Like the Sling adapter. :) That would make it worthwhile for sure!

And you don't have to pay a $4 monthly fee if you buy it from a retailer.
The integration isn't nearly the same without the service. It may or may not be worth the extra money to have two-way communications with the DVR. I think it would be neat to have something like dishonline.com directly on the TV; maybe even good enough to avoid springing for a ViP922.

The fee is an option, you mean, if you buy it from a retailer. I am not sure why someone would suggest paying $200 up front (more than it costs right now...) and add a rebate instead of the $99 it's being reduced to.

The fee is automatically added to your account when you buy a Revue from Dish. That is why you should buy it from a retailer. You don't have to pay the fee.

We had one with our 722k and it completely whacked out the Dish receiver. Long story short: HDMI signal interfered. TV2 would take forever to come on and would hang, forced reboots, DVR timers would start late / end early / not record at all... Anomalies on TV1 too.

I remember that free HBO weekend a while back.. I set the DVR to record something like 8 movies. Only 2 recorded properly from beginning to end. (not weather related issue) All the other ones were chopped up into segments, some never recorded at all.

I know, I know... How would HDMI do all that? Must be something else! ...That was my thought too. After months of troublshooting with Dish and Logitech and even Sharp (our TV), the problems could not be resolved. We have had the receiver for long time before and never had any of the problems. The day we yanked the Revue out of the 'loop' all is back to normal/no problems.

I hated to get rid of it because the features would have been great had it not caused so much 'side-effect' problems.

Maybe hook it up direct to the TV instead of the Dish reciever?

They announced today that new customers can have them free. No rebate. But they will be shipped after the install, and the tech won't have to install them and set them up. Sounds like the potential for a TC, when we have to go back and install them for the dumb customer who can't figure out how to hook it up....

Why wouldn't you just go buy it from a retailer for $99 and no rebate then?

Because it would be free after the rebate. You don't have to have it integrated. If you buy it from dish, you go online and unchecked te box that says "dvr integration". -your revue will still work, just no integration.

At $179 it's still a lot of money for someone to add to a home enterainment system. $179 would significantly put a dent in the networkable stereo receiver I want to purchase for my home enterainment center. If it were under $75, I'd buy one just to play with. At 179, it's something I would have to think about buying and will probably never buy it, like I feel about it now.

Under $75 and I'll impulse buy it. Lol. Someone posted it's free for new customers. It's only a matter of time before it's free for everyone. I expect a rebate deal to be offered.
