Loss of BEV HD Channels

Anyone have the full scoop on what is going on with the BEV HD channels? I've lost, CTV E&W, CTYE, NBCW, FoxW, SN, and the Movie Channel. Located in central CA. I had understood they may be moving a few channels around, but that's a bunch to lose. I am not clear on why, maybe someone can help, and are they coming back? Any info would be appreciated. What a pain. I've gotten hooked on the HD DVR, and now 7 channels are gone. Losing the movie channel means missing the new Sopranos season unless I sign back up with Dish for HBO, which we deemed not worth it.

What are your signal strength?

This is what I have in Southeast USA and all HD is still intact:

I've got a 65/70, which is pretty normal for my area and antenna size. I don't think it's equipment related, as I read a little on digitalhomecanada.com and there is a definite fall loss of channels. Apparently they are adding channels, and to do that, they are reducing some transponder's power so they can add more power elsewhere (could be wrong, just what I read). What I don't know is if this is permanent. I was just getting to love the Movie Channel HD. It was so much better than HBO or any of the other premium channels in HD. As you may can tell, we don't watch much that isn't HD. A little off of Dish, but not much.

A person in Redendo Beach is reporting the same issues as you on avsforum, so I suspect California got whacked.

I've lost a few here in SW Florida, namely transponders 7, 11 and 27 are down to 40%.

I'll probably need to put up a bigger second dish to pull them in, but I'll wait to see until Bev finishes with whatever they are doing.

That makes no sense. I am just north of you and I have a higher signal on 2 of those transponders

I am using a .90 Meter Dish.

Yup, here in Northern California, I had to switch from my 18" dish to my 90cm dish. Even with the bigger dish I am missing many transponders, with either very weak readings, or no signal at all.

Here are the transponders I am having problems with.

12282V
12311V
12341V
12370V
12574V
12603V
12297H
12355H
12530H

Wondering if they moved these transponders to the old Nimiq 3 bird, and now that the satellite is in a more easterly position, if this cuts off parts of the West Coast from the footprint.

Maybe I'll be able unload my 530 to someone who lives in the area where Nimiq 3 knocked out the HD.

You really can't blame Expresssvu. They will have less rain in Canada by switching to Nimiq 3.

Will NIMIQ 3 have the same footprint as it did before, when it was located @ 91?

Will the old DTV 2 be able to give a larger footprint than N3 did @91?

This will be interesting. It will also be interesting to see how many subs disconnect if the HD channels are no longer CONUS.

Also missing HD channels

I'm missing those HD channels as well... Palm Springs, CA area. I'm "glad" to hear that it's not the fall foliage causing my problem (have a tree dangerously close to my line of sight), but...

Well, now that I think about it, I would've preferred it to be the tree!

I don't think they moved to Nimiq 3 -- my system seeks transponders at position 82 when I tune into those channels. Or is that a fluke?

I wonder if ExpressVu bought another old DirecTV bird to place at 82 to "fill in" Nimiq 2's bad transponders...

ExpressVu is moving Nimiq3 (old DTV bird) to 82 to colocate with Nimiq2 because N2 is crippled.
Nimiq4 is coming online soon to coloate with Nimiq1

You have to remember, 82 is 9 degrees east of 91 so the footprint is changing and people on the left coast may lose signal on those.

BTW: nobody willl get TP4...its used for internet :)

right now the tranpsonders that Vu doesnt have on are
6
8
12
24
29
31

Bell can only have 26 TP's on N2 on at one time due to it being crippled

Thank you. That explains why its not available to even check the signal strength on with the 6000.

I couldnt figure that out for the life of me - but that explains it!!!!

Show's up for me on my 6100. Signal strength 88.

I just looked at Lyngsat and maybe TP4 is lit up now for video
It says "Discovery HD" and one of the NHL CI channels is on TP4

It use to be for their internet option

Anybody have a guess if increasing antenna size would help? I haven't seen the footprint, so don't know if that is an aption. I'm on the central coast of CA, so I may be a bit too far south for a 60cm to do any good. Anyone have a way to figure that out rather than me just buying one and seeing what happens?

A BEV 6000 WILL NOT let you access TP4 on 82W for signal strength in the setup menu.

I cannot speak for a 6100 as I don't have a 6100.

Here in Ventura County (socal) is what I am getting right now using a 80cm dish. Although is kinda raining, This is what the 6100 is reading.

Transponders from Nimiq 2 at 82w

The HD channels that I am not receiving right now are the following:

800 - CTV HD East
803 - City TV Toronto HD
806 - CTV HD West
820 - KING-DT (NBC - Seattle)
823 - KCPQ-DT (FOX - Seattle)
850 - TSN HD
851 - Rogers Sportsnet HD

At my other home in West Hills I have the 90cm installed, so readings are much higher there then this 80cm I have here in Ventura.

Can you please define MUCH HIGHER?

I went from a 50cm to a 90cm (a 80% increase - not 10%) and got slightly less than 20 points out of it on a weaker bird. It still has no signal on the weaker 91W bird.

I can't see where 3 more inches (where we are talking about satellite dishes :D ) are going to get you more than an extra point or two.

Also, the earlier posts (either here or somewhere) said 840/841 were missing. You do not list that as so. Do you subscribe to one of those? I believe they are on the same transponder.

They also listed an East Coast Boston Station in HD being gone.

Are they moving stations around on trandsponders?

840/841 Are the movie channels, and currently I dont have that movie package.

I am getting all the Eastern HD locals from 815-819 w/o any problems whatsoever.
