Man I'm excited!

Are you talking about Florida State-Boston College in SD on ESPN? That has nothing to do with Dish. That is an ESPN thing. It depends where you live. You get the game on ABC if you live in ACC country; otherwise you get it on ESPN SD.

I believe Dish actually has more games in HD today than DirecTV does because they have VS. and neither have ESPNU. FCS games are not in HD. I also don't think Mtn games are in HD.

I am referring to the RSN HD versions not being turned on. I understand the reasoning behind not having them turned on during normal shows, but it is disheartening to see they don't care to have them turned for sporting events at the very least.

Warlock,

When I was your age TV was so bad that there was so much snow on the screen that sometimes I thought I would have to go out to my car and get the ice scraper to scrape it off.

You should be happy what the picture quality is today, and it is only going to get better in the future.

Just because D* has full time HD feeds, doesn't mean all their games are in HD. I currently have both services and there alot of games on my so called full time RSN Fox Southwest, that are in glorious SD this season.

I am sorry. I thought since the thread writer was Sexy Warlock and he was "so Excited" that this was about his new discovery of Viagra.

Now that was sarcasm.;)

Interesting. Every game I have watched today has been HD. That's RSNs, ESPN and locals. I guess I'm just fortunate, huh ? :D

We were wanting to watch different games. There were a lot that were in HD, and then there were a lot that didn't have an HD version turned on because of bandwidth squeezing. It was disappointing, glad that all the games you wanted to watch were in HD though. I still haven't had a day that was 100& HD for what I have wanted to watch. Maybe next year?

No, you just know where to look to get the games in HD. ;) Obviously, the OP doesn't.

Negative. I scanned every single RSN and local channel for several games. I saw the SD feed with the matchup listed, and the HD version stated CSN Mid Atalntic, etc. That means there was no chance to catch the HD version with Dish.

Maybe that's because the football games on CSN Mid Atlantic were not shot in HD. The Alabama at Kentucky game might not have been. From my house, the New Mexico at Texas Tech game was on most other RSNs and was in HD while the New Hampshire at Towson game was not an HD game at all.

Comcast SportsNet: TV Listings

Dish has elected to not show events on their RSN HD channels unless there is an HD event going on. While I would love to have the RSNs HD tuned on full time, they look better than their SD counterpart, I can understand the decision not to waste bandwidth when there is little need to.

The Alabama Kentucky game was shot in HD. My local SEC Network affiliate doesn't have the ability to show HD, but I was lucky last week to be able to watch the game in HD thanks to the Sports pack, not so lucky this week since Dish decided not to turn the HD versions on for this game, and several other less important games.

This also happened on the first week with the TN game, it was shot in HD, but because of my local affiliate and Dish, I was unable to watch it in HD. I'm patiently awaiting the day when I don't have to worry if I will be able to watch something in HD when it is available in HD. :(

The only time the SD feed of the SEC Network is shown is when the receiving station cannot pass an HD signal. That wasn't the case this week, or any other week for the RSN showings. Dish has shown them in HD roughly half of the time. They have been in HD 100% of the time.

Maybe next year Dish won't have to force bandwidth rationing on us.
