I live in a condo building serviced by MDU Communications. They have a 3 LNB dish on the roof and they service the entire building with DirecTV. Apparently, DirecTV has yet to offer any MDU operator the proper technology that will allow MDUs to use a 5 LNB dish and offer MPEG4 programming. That pretty much sucks, given the aggressive expansion of HD via MPEG4 later this year. Does anyone have any information on when DirecTV will offer the proper technology for MDUs so that they can in turn offer their customers in multi-dwelling units all of the HD that DirecTV will be launching in a few months? I don't know how many of DirecTV's customers are serviced in an MDU setting, but it will be very frustrating for those that do to not have access to all of the new HD channels.

Thanks in advance for any info...

There is already the technology in place for MDU providers to suppply their users with signal from the ka-band satellites.

Pace (PACE Electronics :: Satellite Equipment, Tools, Supplies&More) has even come up with several different setups, including a single-wire solution and a fiber solution. It's up to your provider (MDU Comm) to upgrade to the new, already available equipment.

In reading the page on the MFH2, it appears that it is not "in place", but actually waiting for full deployment of SWM and some new receivers from DIRECTV.
Pace MFH2 description said:
DIRECTV is introducing new receivers to work with the MFH2 system. They are the D12, H21, R16 and HR20.

Pace is NOT a retail entity, which is why many of their items are not priced on the web. I'd call them anyway to get an ETA for the MFH-2
