Sure, just make sure it can "breath well"...Wont hurt a thing and if its in a enclosed cabinet make sure it dont get over heated.

Of course, if you do mount it vertically, you'll have to lie on your side to watch TV.

I have the Hopper set up vertically - I thought some might be interested in my PVC stand. The "lighter" sections are stick on felt I added to keep from scratching it up.

I've had a Hopper mounted on it's side for a couple years now with no issues.

It should work just fine side ways.
