Can I mount my dish to a very mature tree?

Tree growth, tree sway, twist, movement, etc, harmful to the tree. Just plain silly to boot. Sink an appropriate OD sch40 post into the ground.

Leaves on a tree contain water which weakens the microwave signal used by satellites. You will need a mounting location where leaves won't grow and block the signal. How mature is the tree? It will continue to develop until it dies so it is not as stable as you think. You are looking at a satellite about the size of a van 22,300 miles out from the Equater, a 1/16" movement can lose the signal.YES it can be mounted in a tree if the right circumstances are there but it is not recommended.

Not to mention all of the things that fall out of trees that can land on the dish and damage or misalign it.

I wouldn't recommend a tree. Best to use a pole that you can control where and how high.

Lightning!

Lightning often follows the tips of outside leaves and then the trunk.........and then maybe your dish, cable and through your TV set.

Spiking the bark could ruin some trees. Others can take it.
