This may be a stupid question but I'm asking it :D

I have a summer camp about 40 miles away and was thinking of picking up a dish and bringing my box up there for the time I am there.

Would that work?

Any reason why I wouldn't get service at the camp?

We're talking same state and same locals.

thanks.

Yes it will work...only thing that might not work is your locals due to spot beam considerations but 40 miles should not be a problem if your not on the fringe already.

Should be no problem. Biggest problem at campsites is with trees blocking the signal. If you don't know what compass direction or elevation to point the dish at go to this site and enter the zip for that camp area, and select your dish type to get the proper settings (well they are good for a starting point, but may differ a couple of degrees). http://www.rca.com/directv/zip_code_selection

You should have no problem - I do the same taking my receiver to our place in Vermont which is 228 road miles from here, and get a good signal on the spot beam locals.
