From Staten Island, NY....... On Thursday, April 27th a jammed forum at Petrides complex turned into mayhem when Councilman John Lanza took the mike and voiced his concerns over the proposal that would bring an 80,000 seat racetrack to Staten Island. Trust me ....this got ugly in a hurry. A little more than an hour into the meeting the NYC police called for a "level 1 mobilization"and shut down the meeting due to a lack of public safety. It was a sad day for Staten Island......it really showed the mentality of the people involved in and around SI. More importantly...no body was hurt in the near riot. Petrides also houses children from grades K-highschool. Activities were going on during the meeting. All in the name of Nascar.
