I have a dish 1000 and a Dish 500 pointed @ 129 using the jumper on the 1000's pro plus.

So I tried to point the 500 @ 61.5 and could not find it. THe Vip 622 says the elevation for dish 300 is 20 and is greyed out for 500. I tried elevation 20, 22, and so an and my squaker meter still could not pick it up! I tried the up-down move around bit and still no luck but I did find 148 West!

Now where can I find the elevation for 500 dish? Im using 1 lnb in the 119 slot on the 500 and live in zip 891**, Las Vegas.

Any one know the elevation? Does the 29 dollar squaker signal meter pick up the 61.5? Where would I see the 61.5 on the VIP, in the 129 screen? 119? or will it actually show up in the 61.5 screen like the 148 did?

elevation would be the same for any dish (300, 500 or other) using a single LNBF and zero skew.

try using an inclinometer, is there something in the way? 20 is a pretty low elevation.

1. Make sure your mast is plumb.
2. Your azimuth is going to be about 100 degrees
3. Your altitude as you said 20.4 degrees.
4. Skew is 90.

I found in pointing the 500 at 61.5 that I had trouble lining up the azimuth more than the altitude, because the measures on the dish are pretty good at getting your signal, except you have to use a compass and eyeball to get azimuth. I had the complicating factor of using a DP twin LNB, so I had to compensate for the LNB I was using not being centered on the dish.

Now I get 61.5 with signal strengths some above 100 and tp22 (the weakest) above 70 and solid.

Before I get up that high ladder, does the 61.5 show up on the receiver in the 61.5 setting, or do I keep it at 129, find the 61.5 (wrong sattelite message) and then do a check switch?

If you found 148 while trying to find 61.5 you are not pointing your dish anywhere near the right direction, you are aiming almost 90 degrees off.

If you are that far off do as Iceberg says & leave it at 129

Well I meant leave it at 129 because he does not understand where to aim it, but if foghorn wants to try, aim your dish East about 100 degrees from where you found 148

make sure while it's on the 129 screen to select a transponder which is known to be working and with the same symbol rate on both 129 and 61.5. I'd hate for you to spend a bunch of time trying to find a zero-strength transponder.

all DBS slots have a symbol rate of 20000 so thats irrelevant

also, doesnt matter if tis the same on both 61.5 & 129. He just needs one on 61.5

TP31 has the "you have a dish at 61.5"
15 or 10 works good

I know how to point for 61.5 and found 148w by serendipity when i was doing the up/down around routine and staircased all the way back to 119 to see if the buzzer was working.

It looks like the homes in front of us are a bit too close and maybe they are blocking the horizon higher than I thought.

I wanted to get 61.5 for HD and internationals at the same time but it looks know that I'll have to wait for the 1000+ and the international move, or get a DP44 and aim the 500 @ 148w and live with the lower 129 signals from the Dish1000.

found it!

I relocated the dish farther back and found 61.5! Thanks Iceberg, leaving it at 129 and finding the signal there with the wrong satellite messsage worked. The meter did find it and did notice the signal from 61.5 is really strong here in Vegas. One of the TPs gets to 97! IT is even stronger then the 110/119 signals from the D1000, except for 110/TP4 which is our spotbeam.

Thanks you all! No I'll hold back on getting a DPP44 and save some bucks.

I had trouble finding 61.5 here in Vegas too. From where my house is the dish faces completly horizontal and directly east. I've aimed lots of dishes and never had one that did'nt face upward at least a little. I get high 80's from 61.5.

Are your 61.5 signals stronger than 110/119 too?

I hope my neighbors do not think I'm listening to them with my dish since its pointing almost directly at their homes!

I get 80-100 for the 110/119. I was mistaken yesterday with the 80 on 61.5 statement. I checked it last night and it was low some tb's as low as 40's and none over 60. I think I'm gonna get up there and tweak it some more. There's an unused antenna up there that needs to come down anyway.

Don't forget.... The 8PSK ones are 21500.

Thanks, I get 60-80 on the 110/119 (dish1000) so while you go up to fix 61.5 and bring down the OTA, I'm going up to fix 110/119 and put up a real OTA!

PS, I set it at 24 for the elevation, 20 is what all the docs and Vip622 screen says it should be.

Yeah, I did'nt install these myself. I had a Voom dish pointing at 61.5 that the Voom installer put up along with that OTA that looks like a wing. Then the Dish guy came and put up the other 110/119. Two days later it got real windy (you now how it gets here!) and I lost signal. The 110/119 dish was flopping around up there like a top. The Voom guy did the same thing. DID'NT TIGHTEN THE BOLTS!! So I went up and reaimed the dish myself. Later I got a rabbit ears for OTA locals that works alot better than the one on the roof so that's coming down. I just got to motivate myself to do it. It take a 13ft ladder extended to the max to get up there.

 60-80 is BAD

should be at least 90 or more. On mine they're at 100-110 on almost all TP's on 110/119
