need Help with CW-600S and KU-band LNBF in San Diego, CA

I am new to FTA and would like help in setting up the following:

Captiveworks CW-600S Premium, Fortec Star 80CM dish and linear Ku-band LBNF.
I do not have a motor yet. I have tried every angle possible and scanned the horizon but could not get any quality reading. I am getting 60 to 80% strength readings on most linear satellites. Could this be a bad or wrong LBNF that I got on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=9730285040). The LBNF says it will work with Pansat and Coolsat but did not mention Captiveworks. The LBNF box says it's a Megasat MS1075 with the following spec:
RF:11.70/12.20GHz
IF:950/1450MHz
LO:10.750GHz
Gain:55dB
Noise Figure:0.4dB

After you pick the satellite you are aiming for make sure to have a LIVE transponder setup on your receiver and watch for signal QUALITY only as you very slowly move the dish, stopping every few mm's.

Make sure the L.O. is set to 10750 in the antenna setup screen!

From everything you posted, all looks fine. The most notable problem for beginners (and some old timers) is LOS (line of site). What I mean is, you have to be pointed at the satellite, not close to it, but at it. Especially with ku-band. Use the angles provided by PSB, in the post above, and you should get closer. Don't give up, you'll find it. It has taken some a month or more to find it, but it's there. And once you get it, "click", you got it. Hang in there friend.

I forgot to mention when I first got my dish it came with a DSS circular dual LNBF. Not knowing much about LNBF at the time. I was trying to get Telstar5 and Galaxy 10R. Of cource, I could not get any of those channels but I was able to get good quality readings on almost all the circular satellite. Are circular satellite really that much easier to receive? I was even able to see some linear ones with the circular LNBF but the quality kept bouncing from 0% to 30%. Now with the Linear LNBF I could not get anything. I just thought there might be some incompatible LNBF with certain brands of FTA receivers.

Circular polarized satellites ARE much stronger than linear. And with circular polarization there is no skew to worry about!

DBS satellites are stronger powered so it is a little easier to get them
