Hi my name is steve, I just go my first HDTV (Samsung 50in DLP) and I am really excited about HD. Right now I have a SD direct TV and I want to switch to direct tv hd. I confused if I would get locals through satellite or not (Can not use OTA).
After seeing this I think I can http://www.directv.com/see/landing/fox_hd.html
http://www.directv.com/see/landing/abc_hd.html
http://www.directv.com/see/landing/nbc_hd.html
http://www.directv.com/see/landing/cbs_hd.html

Here are some facts.
- I get my locals on satellite now.(foxny ect.)
- All my locals are NY ones (on sat and cable)
- I live in North Jersey (20 Min from the city)

Thanks
Steve T

If you are receiving al the NYC feed right now in the high 300's you should get all those channels in HD as well! All indications are you will not be depressed!

:) Yep All locals are in the high 300's
What are DMA local channels and will they be HD?

Thanks so much. I am ordering my system right away.

DMA Local, are the rank by city which represent the highest viewer ratio. At the top of the DMA list is NYC, #2 DMA is LA. Currrently Directv only offer these to city's for those who qualify in HD. Usually, if you have those channels in the high 300's, you qualify! Therefore, you will get all 4 major network channels in HD but only the NYC feeds since you are on the Eastcoast!

this doesnt realy matter but, would I get all the other NY locals I get now on satalite just not in HD?
