Hey guys,

Just found out today that Dish now carries my locals (Gainesville, FL DMA) in HD. The problem is, they are carried on the 129W satellite. I already have 2 dishes, one for 110 and 119 sats and 61.5 for HD. Do i now need a third dish(Please tell me NO!) or is there another dish(possibly bigger) that would get 110, 119, and 129? I'm asking you guys cause I've been on hold with Dish for over 20 minutes and got fed up with waiting.

If you have line of sight to 129 (about 10 degrees lower to horizon than 110/119), a 1000.** Dish should pick up all three. I recently went through the same thing, though I was originally told I could not get 129 because of trees. So they put up another for 61.5. Turns out, if we had moved to a different location on the house, we could have gotten 129 in the first place.

You won't have a 3rd dish. They'll either repoint your 61.5 or install a 1000.2. (assuming LOS as KAB indicated)

OK guys, thank you for the info. So let me make sure on this, the HD content I'm getting off of 61.5 is also available on 129?

Everything you got on 61.5 (HD wise) is on 129... BUT they have not put FoxFL or Sunshine HD on 129 yet. I'm sure they plan to at some point.

Thanks Chainblu. I'm not subscribed to those RSN's, so i guess I'm good.

Wow, so we have to call DISH and have them come out in order to get the Gainesville locals? I'm on 61.5 is it just a matter of re-aiming to get 129? Is 129 a newer satellite or something?

You could always re-aim the wing dish yourself. To find and peak just that one satellite isn't too difficult. I'm a Joe do-it myselfer and have peaked 2 Dish 1000's and a Superdish for family without use of an in-hand meter. You can do it.

Yes, just go get yourself a GOOD compass.

Are there any good how-to guides on the internet that you know of?

EDIT: So I got an email from customer care saying "Our record shows that we need to install a second dish for you to receive the local channels in HD."

Now I already have 2 dishes on my roof. Is it likely that all I need is a re-aim?

i am going to have to do the same. I was originally at 129, but it kept losing signal a lot so I moved it as I noticed almost all the installs in my area have the HD pointed to 61.5.

I called a local installer and they told me that they do in fact point to 61.5 for reliable signal. I am getting another dish to do some test as I do not want to move the system that is in place just yet.
