Need to upgrade Direct TV receiver!

I am a retired Tech. One of my friends bought a new LCD Samsung TV. It has DMI and several Component video inputs. What is the model or models he needs to be
able to use the better quality inputs.
I went to the direct tv website and really found nothing, or didn't know where to go.
It would be nice to have a url: to a site that shows the jacks in the back, like I have seen on other equipment.

The DirecTV H20 is the most current receiver for hi-def viewing. It has HDMI and component outputs. The HR10-250 (and upcoming HR20) are the hi-def DVR's. Here is the list of all DirecTV system manuals. Click on "DIRECTV Models" then on the model number:

Any of the newer HD units (DirecTV models) will have all those jack packs/connection types as far as I know. The much older ones would have just component; and both on the higher end or much newer non-DirecTV models such as the LG LSS3200A or the RCA DTC210. DirecTV provides the full user guides which have the connection info inside each.

Considering you are more than likely going to get one new, you should only be concerned with the DirecTV models; the rest are no longer made, but work very well.

DirecTV H10, H20 and HR10 as far as I know are the ones.
