Over at the tivo commun some are saying that if you plug in a USB Network card it reports that Two TCP/IP network ports are active. Is this a sign that some kind of Home Media Network product will be out someday?

The new Direct Tivos seem have a new version of the Tivo software installed also that supports folders and other new features. Plus the guide is now fast.

I really hope Directv will release the version 6 software for their existing DTivos. I would really like the USB networking capability as I don't have a landline based phone.

Whats the model number?

Don't get all excited about the usb ports if you plug a nic into it there are only 2 ports open 2900 and 2901 I think.

Still that would be enough for it to get it's software updates via the Internet.

However, the software updates are coming from the satellite for DirecTiVo units. The phone call is only used, after the satellite download, to initiate the upgrade.
