How often does new/already existing local channels get added?

In relation to what?

DirecTV issued a press release in the middle of last year stating which markets will be receiving local channels in HD. The remaining markets, without any timeline at this timer, are...

Des Moines, Flint/Saginaw, Fort Myers, Little Rock, Mobile/Pensacola, Norfolk, Springfield MO and Toledo.

The addition of these markets would take DirecTV to a total of 67 markets by the end of 2007. DirecTV has recently stated they would have up to 75 markets up by year's end, so another eight markets have yet to be announced.

As relating to regular local channels, on a conference call in February, DirecTV mentioned they would be adding another 30 markets soon. The only one that has been announced is Laredo, and Laredo is supposed to start service this month.

Honestly, you can't really tell. Last year, for locals in my area, it was supposed to be Dec 2006, THEN got moved to late 2007. Then, last week, they start broadcasting KOCO(ABC) and KOKH(FOX)

The question is somewhat ambiguous.

How often are new local channels added? Well, if it is a new market, it is one of those products that are announced. But say a new Fox affiliate starts in an existing market, like what had happened in Jackson, MS, a few years ago. If a new "major network" affiliate is added to a market, it is not long before it is added. If a small, independant station starts service in an existing market, it could take a while.

Then there are these HD additions. As rk_jg24 states, there are only two HD channels available in the Oklahoma City market. The other two appear I believe aren't available for different reasons. One is because there is a technical problem, while the other is because DirecTV has yet to come to contractual terms with the other. Those generally appear once a contract has been signed.

--------------------------
Local channels and broadcast networks available in the Laredo designated market area include: ABC, CBS, Univision, FOX and PBS. DIRECTV is in discussions with the owners of the NBC station, and hopes to add it to the local channel lineup. DIRECTV now offers standard definition local channels in 143 markets, representing approximately 94 percent of U.S. TV households.
