We just bought a home and it is being built as we speak ... we were under the impression that each room would get a cable jack ... found out today that is not the case and im hoping they can add them but it may be to late

If they cant add them ... what would an installer have to do to add two cables...one in the loft which is right below the attic and then in the spare bedroom which is on the opposite side of the house away from the attic ... both rooms will get the joey

Both rooms are on 2nd floor and the house is being built on slab

Thanks in advance

He could put the node in the attic and that would be the junction point for both the Hopper and Joeys. He can feed lines down from the node in the attic to each room. The Node also connects to the dish so being in the attic may make it simple to connect to the dish as well. That's how my parents have theirs set up.

That would require putting a hole in the ceiling and run it down to the receiver???

Or would they run it inside the walls from the attic??? Meaning there would be a small hole that is not visible and a small hole in the wall to the receiver???

With cable outlets already in living room and master bedroom what other wires would he have to run to those receivers if any ???

Sorry for all the quesrions ... thanks for the responses

Our home came with a home theater package (wiring), which was still pretty piss-poor IMO. I wanted one data and two RG-6 cables in most rooms...and three RG-6 and two data cables in the two TV rooms. The HT package came with half of what I was looking for. Thankfully I was able to fish the added cables through the attic/walls and down to the wiring closet with only a major pain-in-the-arse. I'm so glad I ran multiple data cables for PS3 and Tivo (and now SmarTVs and other devices). Sure, wireless is an option but nothing works better than wired.

Does dish charge you when they have to do wallfishing when setting up your new hopper system...or do they even wallfish???

When they set it up how will they get 2 cables to 2 separate rooms on the 2nd floor from the attic

I work in the IT industry, and we regularly run new cat5 cables in existing buildings. Its more time consuming and a pain in the butt, but it can be done. There are people that can do it, but it will cost more because of the extra time needed.

The way I would do it, since you are on a slab. The person will be in the attic and try to find the wall. Interior walls are easier as they generally don't have insulation and you have more access to the header of the wall. Under the insulation in the attic, they will find the header, and drill a hole through the header that is big enough for the cable to run through. They will then take what we call fishing rods and run it down the hole into the wall. These rods are flexible and the ends will screw together to make them longer. Then tape the wire to the end of the rod. Measure from the end of the wall to the hole you just drilled to get the distance so you know where the wire is in the wall. Now, go to the room, and measure from the end of the wall and that is where your wire should be. Take a sheet rock saw and cut a hole in the sheet rock and hope you measured correctly. Have someone at the fishing rod moving it around so you can find it. once you have the rod you pull it out of the hole and the wire comes with the rod. Now, you can do 1 of 2 things to attach the plate to the wall. you can get a plate like this http://www.lowes.com/pd_43116-223-S...URL=?Ns=p_product_avg_rating|1&facetInfo=Wall which will give you a solid mounting of the plate like there was a box there, or you could use some sort of sheet rock screw, expansion screw or some other type of screw and attach the plate directly to the wall. Since there is low voltage over cat5 and coax there is no need for a box.
