Can someone tell me what the second receiver charge on an EA account would be? I am led to believe its $7 for both standard def and HD programming packages. EA installs since December are now all mpeg 4 receivers but since E* is mandating mpg 4 receivers, you would think standard def customers would only be charged $5 like a western arc customer would be when subscribing to a standard def package with mpg 2 receivers. Maybe the $2 additional charge can be justified in that these customers are being "future proofed" in the event that they wish to receive HD programming and would not have to upgrade their receivers.

Also, does it make any difference what dual tuner receiver does not have a phone line connection to take advantage of E* now waiving the 5$ access fee on 1 of the 2 dual tuners on an account?

I have another Eastern Arc question. I am a new subscriber to DISH. I have the install date set for Friday the 13th (less than a week away). Under the old system, I needed a height of 40 ft clearance (blocked by trees), but the EA 1000.4 says that my clearance will be 140 ft, which for me is fine. The question is, will I automatically get EA (Boston area) 1000.4 and will I get all my programming from that satellite (Bronze HD, locals, and Dish Latino)? I remember year ago I used to have this giant satellite dish and it would automatically move to a different satellite when I changed channels. I am assuming that these are fixed position dishes.

The 1000.4 gets all satellite positions that you will need. Boston is an eastern arc location so that is the antenna I would expect to receive as long as you have line of sight and don't have need for international programming. The Boston HD locals are on 61.5.

If my calculations are right, 1000.4 is the ONLY antenna that has a clear view from my location. However, I have been reading conflicting reports. Some say that Latino programming is not available on the Eastern Arc, and others say that it is available on E*8. I would like to get the Dish Latino Bonus Pack if possible.

I recently switched to the all HD Platinum package and really want to go to the eastern arc solution to get rid of one of my antennas. I have the 61.5 and 110/119 solution right now. I live in the Boston area and wonder what antenna I would use and if what might it cost?

You can see what programming is on what satellite by clicking The List! tab at the top of this page. I don't know anything about the Latino Pack but I do know that if international programming is needed from 118.7, they install a second dish for you along with the 1000.4.

Dish 1000.4 and it usually costs $80 - $100 to buy the antenna and LNB. You must have all mpeg4 receivers (e.g. 211, 211k, 222, 411, 622, 722, 722k).

I got the program listings from

EKB: Eastern Arc

Which shows a lot of Spanish programming on E*6 and E*8.

I don't want two dishes, especially since I don't thing there is a LOS to non-EA satellites.

Dish is moving a satellite to 72, maybe they will put the Latino channels on it and you won't need the second dish.

Well, I guess I can always add it later. Seems like they are leaving out a big market that could easily be served if they just replaced a few crap channels with these. Hopefully you are right about 72. It seems that $14 is a pretty good deal for 35 Spanish language channels, especially considering that Playboy is included.

  1. Additional receivers are $7 in EA. However, if you are a SD sub only, there is an HD enabling fee of $5 for every receiver, so I think the $7 fee is not in play here, but as always, I could be wrong on that one.
  2. The primary receiver listed on your acct. gets the phone line fee waived.
