wrong frequencies...wrong satellites

i would like to get a satellite and it to be able to receive c-band and ku. here's a satellite i found: Item number: 5773121085 on ebay. Do you think this would work well enough? Also i would like it to be motorized. could anybody tell me what all else i would have to buy to have a complete system (including links if you can include them)? I'm looking for the cheapest way out (probably not the smartest). Or is this satellite even worth the time?

Help Please...

fortec 80 cm dish
coolsat 5000
universal single lnbf ku-band

I have moved this thing around all day and cannot get anything to happen on the quality reading except 1,5,3,7,2,3,9,10,2,4,3,5.....it sporatically jumps around and never gets higher then 10. any help here would be great.
thanks

If you are SURE its a Universal LNBF make sure the L.O. is set correctly at.......

9750-10600

If you think you are close to a satellite try a blind scan!

Give us your zip/post code and we will give you ALL the angles to the satellites from your location!

settings are correct it is universal. the highest i get on the level is 80% but the quality, no matter what i do still just jumps around like that. tried a blind scan and got nothing.
zip code: 35654

This is the closest zip I could get to work for now....

still nothing...
I have the latitude on the motor bracket set at 34 and the dish bracket angle at 24.5.
does this sound right? any ides of something that may not be set up right?

could somebody help me out with how you come up with the angles. i'm a little confused and i know i have it wrong.
thanks

i've been able to get a channel here and there, not on the right frequencies though, by manually moving the motor. i can only get a few satellites to show any quality: ia-5, any of the echostars, amc4, and a few others. do u think the satellite is badly positioned?

If the Freq. is off, I would guess you have the wrong L.O. set for the LNBF

wrong frequencies....wrong satellites

-Fortec 80 cm dish
-fortec Single KU Band Universal LNBF
-Motek SG-2100 Satellite Dish Motor
-coolsat 5000 receiver

When I try to scan in stations on IA5, I will get stations that would be on satmex 5 and other satellites. same thing happens for most all of the satellites. I can scan in stations on galaxy 10r and satmex5 properly w/ some of them being on the wrong frequencies. What could i be doing wrong for this to happen? I have moved the dish all over the place and can still only get galaxy 10r and satmex5. any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Make sure your motor elevation and dish elevation are set correctly.

Make sure your house's lattitude and longitude are entered into your Coolsat 5000 correctly. They must be correct in order for USALS to work. If you accidently entered your lattitude as being South instead of North, then your dish will move in the wrong direction. Press the "OK" button to change East to West....or to change South to North, etc.

What's your location?

35654 (34 N, 87 W)
I got the satellite bracket at 24.5 and the motor at 56. I tried the USALS but couldn't ever get it to work right, so i just manually move the satellite.

Motor settings are correct :)

Watchout one side of the motor is marked LAT.

The other is marked ELEV.

yea that kinda threw me off at first....

56-ele

All I can say is.....just make sure you have the basics right:

The pole on which the motor is mounted MUST be perfectly vertical.
The motor body MUST be bolted PERFECTLY SOUTH on the ground pole.
Mount the dish perfectly straight on the motor's tube.
The motor elevation and the dish elevation must be set correctly.

If you do all of the above, then USALs should be able to find each satellite.

I live near Tupelo....not close enough for it to be practical for me to come help you there in the Russellville area. I wish it were.
