New York Yankees

Once again the Yankees have proven that money cannot buy championships. The Yankees losing in the first series is a beautiful thing. I can't wait to watch Streinbrenner melt down over the next couple of days, it should be fun to watch. :D

Look at what the Red Sox spent, yet no one says anything about that. Old argument, old news, come up with something new please. The players who really helped the Yanks this year came up through the minors or were by all respect still rookies.

May be old news, but still soooo fun to point out...

Cleveland Indians Payroll $61 million
NY Yankees Payroll $195 million
= Steinbrenner is a moron that thinks he can buy championships :D

Without A-Rod this year, they would not have made the playoffs ...

True that, makes you wonder how much they will hurt next year when he is playing somewhere else? Maybe the Yankees will sign Andruw Jones, he can hit .220 with 25 home runs and 90 RBI, that should be worth about 25 mil a year from Streinbrenner....LOL

A-Rod- 2 for 15, 1 RBI ($27.7 million/year)
Giambi- 1 for 4, 0 RBI ($23.4 million/year)
Jeter- 3 for 17, 1 RBI ($21.6 million/year)
Abreu- 4 for 15, 2 RBI ($15.6 million/year)
Matsui- 2 for 11, 0 RBI ($13 million/year)

Your top 5 offensive players with the highest annual salary collectively going 12 for 62 with only 4 RBI, ($101.3 million) while losing to the Cleveland Indians in the ALDS........... PRICELESS!!!

Congrads to the Indians. They were the better team on the field and they proved it. It should be an excellent series going up against the mighty Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Now to the Yankees... Change manager. A chance that is desperately needed for the worse or the better. They need to get rid of dead weights like Mussina, Giambi, Clements, Fansworth, Igawa, etc. Let the young kids play. Sign Pettite for one more year. Sign Mariano for no more than two years. If he does not like that, let him walk. Sign Posada for 2-3 years no more than that. He is your catcher for no more than two years but on his third year, he will have to move to another position or become the DH. DO NOT GIVE A-ROD $30MILLION. LET HIM WALK. You can get a few players with that money.

With Paul Byrd pitching tonight, NY is guaranteed to get another win and tie up the series. The only time Cleveland has a chance to win against NY is when CC or Fausto are pitching. Game 5 is a sure bet as things stand now. Hope there are some of those Lake Erie bugs still hanging around.

Paul Byrd is not going to make it thorugh the 5th. Lifetime vs Yanks 1-4 and gave up 7 runs in 2 innings this year against them. :D

Well gents? What were you saying? :D

You can smell the smoke coming from Steinbrenners ears all the way over in Detroit. That must be smell of baseball in October in the Bronx, Scobuck was describing in post #182.:D
