Newbie HD Question

In the NY area, currently have hd compatable dish, have total choice plus locals...my question is, if I purchase a HD receiver, and say NBC is broadcasting a show in HD, will that show be in HD for me on the HD reciever, or do I need to purchase local channel hd or something like that...thanks

You'll automatically get the HD version if you're already subscribing to locals.....nothing else to purchase.
