Is a reed switch a switch that is activated by a magnet ? Saw a DIY FAQ replacement for the switch on a dish mover that used Radio Shack parts of this nature .

Thanks,
Wyr

If not , please explain how it works .

Thanks ,
Wyr

Inside the actuator arm there is a plastic wheel that is driven by the motor and it has magnets mounted on it. As the magnets pass close to the reed switch it is opened and closed. You can verify this by using a Ohm meter.
