My new setup upstairs has a failed "check switch" which keeps looping thru the numbers continuously. What exactly is the Switch???

Thanks! :no

This. Mounted in close proximity to the dish.
this is if you have more than two receivers. if you have two or less the switch is built into the LNB. This only true for dishpro equipment.

Leo: It's NOT only true for DishPro. Here' a quick list of stuff:
Legacy:
SW21 - 2 bird, 1 tuner
SW44 - 2 bird, 4 tuner
SW64 - 3 bird, 4 tuner
Twin - 2 bird, 2 tuner (effectively has an SW42)
Quad - 2 bird, 4 tuner

DishPro:
DP21 - 2 bird, 1 tuner
DP34 - 3 bird, 4 tuner
DPP44 - 4 bird, 4 tuner (with "Plus" feature set)
Twin - 2 bird, 2 tuner (effectively has a DP22)
Quad - 2 bird 4 tuner (effectively has a DP24)

This run through is for concept ONLY - don't try and order a DP24 from anyone. ;)
