Where would a newbie find this "remote address", and what do we compare it to?

This is a little late for the "remote address" but if you ever change battery's the dsr-922 & 920 remotes go to default 000. to set the receiver to 000, 001 up to 003, you do this.
have receiver powered on
press up arrow an down arrow same time on face of receiver
A0 or A1 or A2 or A3 will be displayed
to change from A1 to A0 down arrow on front of receiver 1 time till A0 is displayed.
then power off with remote to set it in receiver.

wish i read this a few days ago would of save you some hair pulling, but Ice came to the rescue.

Okay, I guess mine is left mounted because it is jammed facing West. And yes, it does make the arm look bent. What do I do now? I have tried going up and pulling the dish to the East, while my wife tells the receiver to seek out W9, which I know is to the East. I heard a faint humming, but it won't move. Help!

well i know its mounted up high but you will have to assist the dish by either pushing east or lifting up slightly & pushing east so the arm will catch the motor body. its a giant screw so alignment is the key in most cases its just slightly seperated and need just a little pressure to reconnect.

I tried twice to assist the dish in the eastward direction, while my wife telss it to move to a different bird. Is it possible that I have the wires backward at the back of the receiver. I don't know when you first caught this thread, but a couple of weeks ago, I had to solder in some new wires, because some cable guy had cut the BUDs lifeline about 10 feet from the entry point. The new wires did not have the same colors as the original, so I may have messed up. Would that do it?

Well it's dark here now, but I can climb up and remove it Monday morning, Pacific Time. Can you leave me some testing instuctions, since I have to leave the house right now. Thanks.

here's what i would do
it will require two people up with the dish
one holds the dish while disconnecting the motor arm from the mounting ring
then the actuator body will rotate freely you can hold the extension arm to the actuator body and tell the person inside to move the satellite location you should be able to feel the actuator catch the arm and adjust in inward. after connection is made reconnect it to the dish.

removing the actuator from the dish is another way to do it like Lak7 mentioned above

1captain, thanks for the info above.
Lak7, the cover over the LNB says "Laser". I assume that is a brand name?
gabs, I might even try that mid-afternoon Sunday. But here's a question, if you are familiar with the 920: How can I tell the dish to move without going to the "Sat" page, and selecting another satellite? There must be another way, or else users would not be able to make fine adjustments. Am I right?

Oh and this: just before going into the Set Limits screen, there is a control that says "Allow satellite moves during Set Limits". It is set to On, and I have never changed that setting.

well i'm sure there is a easy way to do it :) i played with the 920 for a little bit but haven't used one in a while , so maybe one of the more experinced users can suggest a better way .

the way i did it was i went through the satellite setup screen and selected a satellite to edit and it would let you adjust the location ( the numbers) and let you move the dish east or west . but it would ask you if you wanted to save when you exited that screen.... so this would change where it (the 920) thinks your satellite is located. ***

if you use this method pick your most west satellite and edit the location and move it back east until the actuator re-connects with the arm and starts to adjust the dish. save this location and also set it as your west limit ( it will probably be a number less than 6699
maybe even something like 6680)

one you have the arm reconnected and know the west limit number then you can procede and set the east limit ( for you there shouldn't be any problems here cause your east limit will be when the actuator is fully retracted.)

*** i haven't followed everything in the thread but if i catch it right you got a 920 and now have it hooked up to the system ..... everything that is in it was already programed into the 920 satellite locations and all ... so you haven't actually found a satellite yet your just trying to set the east and west limits ....

from whereever you are, like gabshere said, you can just press options 6-4-4-enter and just move it west or east from there and don't save changes, or for a short east west allowance, you can do options 5, adjust picture. The only option there is east/west, but it only allows you to travel a short distance kinda like the auto tune feature (as seen within the options 6-4-4). You might have your wife try that for a short two seconds or something to attempt to get the dish actuator back together? The only other setting i can think of that you may look at is the linear east/west option. Yours should be linear west, if your arm extends to the west and retracts to the east. But that may not solve anything, especially if the wiring is off to compensate?

just wanted to add that my manuals for the 920 in section 7 it says that you can press the arrow keys to bring up a fine tune channel screen. I remember this from my now non functioning 922, but I can't get it to work on my 920, with either remote. Maybe it'll work on yours. Anyway, it says when you bring this up that you can go east/west with left/right arrow keys.

Arrow up to display the fine tune dish screen, then use left/right arrows to go in the desired direction.:)

Well it's been raining hard all morning and early afternoon, so I haven't gone up yet. It's nearly 3pm here in southern Nevada.

6-4-4 takes me to the screen that has many satellite numbers displayed, some checked off, and G1 both checked off and highlighted. So I pressed Enter and I got a more detailed screen about G1. On this new screen, it reminded me that the current dish position is 6699, and it asked me if I wanted to move the dish to 6683. Okay, so I pressed Enter on the move to 6683, but I got the message "Dish has reached its limits". So now we see clearly that the receiver knows the dish is all the way West, the receiver believes that 6699 is all the way West, and the receiver can't do anything about the dish being stuck there. I guess I am going to have to go up in the rain. I will wait about 15 minutes to see if there are any replies, and then I'm taking my wrenches up to the roof.

There are Mechanical Limit switches in the motor as a safety feature.
You can try to disconnect the very end of the Arm and screw it back on to the Rod inside the fat part of the Arm. But if you have some extra cable around, it may just be easier to bring the Arm inside, connect the wires and get it moving again, then re-install.

Tough choice. I'm going to try to screww it back in a couple of turns. If that works, I've only gotten soaked once.

Going up now.

Well I did it. I disconnected the arm, screwed it back in about three turns, and reconnected the dish. Then I had my wife handle the remote while I went back to watch the dish. So from the screen where it says the dish is at 6699 and would we like to move to 6683, I had her press Enter.

Out in the yard, I watched the dish for movement. Unfortunately, the stinking thing moved West and once again ran into its own support structure. Somewhere, some wires are reversed. There is a three wire bundle and a five wire bundle, both of which contain a red and white pair. Can somebody tell me which wires I need to unreverse?
Thanks.

Changing the wires around was easy, but I got the physical limits message again. Maybe if I go up and lift the dish, my wife can remote it over. If that doesn't work, I will probably have to repeat the disconnect routine.
