NFL 2008-09 Season

You better hope it's Anderson, because if he comes back with a less than stellar year, then his stock will drop severly and you will not get much for him.

as for Rogers, You'll be wondering why you see him coming off the field when the biggest plays are about to be made.

I think the Browns are definately going in the right direction ....

Picked to win the division next year ???? Really ... I don't see it.

Jimbo

Dude, we picked up Anderson on waivers for nothing from the Ratbirds (errr Ravens), who dropped him. If we do end up trading him, anything we get would be gravy. But yes I agree, if he doesn't perform well this year, his stock will never be as high as it is right now.

HUGE possible trade for my Raiders!

If this goes through, though I am not too thrilled about losing another draft pick, we are picking up one of the better cornerbacks in the league! NOW they can go after Darren McFadden!!

The Atlanta Falcons have reached an agreement in principle with the Oakland Raiders to trade cornerback DeAngelo Hall for the Raiders' second-round pick in the 2008 draft, pending the Raiders finalizing a contract with Hall, a source close to the Falcons told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
While a Raiders source said Hall and the team are nearing an agreement on a contract, the source close to Hall said there is "still a lot of work to get it done." Hall, a former first-rounder taken with the eighth pick in the 2004 draft, would be paired with Nnamdi Asomugha, giving Oakland one of the top tandems in the game. The move would also provide insurance if Asomugha were to leave as a free agent following next season. The Raiders placed the exclusive franchise tag on Asomugha, guaranteeing him at least $9.465 million in 2008. They still would like to sign him to a long-term deal. If the deal goes through, the Raiders would have only one draft pick in the first three rounds. Oakland picks fourth in the opening round and traded its third-round pick last year to New England for a pick used to draft offensive lineman Mario Henderson.

This is a HUGE move for the Raiders ......
They already have a top notch D* and this will improve that as well.
Now ..... if they can move the ball, so the D* is NOT on the FIELD ALL DAY.

I wish the LIONS would have done something like this.

Copper Theft Arrest at Home of Former Cleveland Browns Player

From Fox 8- Cleveland News.....

"A concerned citizen's timely call to police led to the arrest of a suspected copper pipe burglar -- at the home of former Cleveland Browns tight end Aaron Shea.

"It's crazy. Some people what they'll do for a buck these days," said Shea.

According to police, Cleveland resident Ernest R Harte,37, was seen coming and going during the early hours of the morning Wednesday with a duffle bag from Shea's home, which is under construction at 2992 Waterfall Way in Westlake. A local resident was suspicious of Harte's activity and called Westlake Police Department

Police found Harte in the woods behind the home claiming that he was searching for a salt lick for deer hunting purposes and was having a diabetic episode. Westlake Fire Department checked him out and found him to be fine.

Harte claimed to have no knowledge of the Infiniti G20 parked on the street that he was allegedly seen getting in and out of, yet keys to it were found on him, police say. Harte was arrested at 12:29 a.m. Wednesday and the car was impounded.

According to police, criminal tools commonly used for ripping pipe out were recovered inside the home.

Harte is currently in Westlake Jail awaiting arraignment on charges of fictitious plates, attempted theft, B&E, obstructing official business and possession of criminal tools.

Harte was out on bond for burglary and motor vehicle theft at the time of the incident. His trial for these charges is scheduled for March 31 at the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

In May 2007, Harte pleaded guilty in common pleas court to B&E and aggravated theft.

Shea played six seasons for the Cleveland Browns after being drafted by the team in 2000."

Cleveland Browns might play on Turkey Day

According to an insider at the NFL Owner's Meetings in Florida, "The Browns are under consideration to host a prime-time game on Thanksgiving Day. It would be the third of the three games on the holiday, following the traditional games in Detroit and Dallas. A third Thanksgiving Day game was created by the NFL three years ago to kick off the schedule of regular-season games shown on the NFL Network.

A source with the team said the Thanksgiving appearance is a rumor at this point. But this is the period teams usually hear rumors about upcoming schedules. The complete NFL schedule is expected to be released in a week or two.

The Browns are an attractive commodity this year for three reasons -- their resurgence, their exciting offense and their tough schedule. The Browns also are in line for at least one other prime-time appearance, more likely to be on a Sunday night than a Monday."

See link: HERE.

If they end up playing a prime-time game on Turkey Day, the wife and I are definitely going to be hosting Thanksgiving Day at our house this year! Go Brown's!

McNabb on ESPN Radio

Just wanted to give a heads up McNabb is going to be on The Mike Tirico Show on ESPN Radio today around 2:20. You can stream it live here. Should be a good interview, I'm sure he'll give his thoughts on where the Eagles are at now, and what he thinks about the upcoming season.

I think McNabb ain't going anywhere.
There were talks about him going somewhere else...but nowadays its hard to find a decent QB.

Breaking news for next seasons NFL:
A communication device is now allowed in the helmet of one defensive player.

Teams that win the coin toss can now defer until the second half.

Unless literally carried out by a defensive player, receivers must land with two feet inbounds for a completion.

The five-yard face mask penalty for incidental contact with the facemask was eliminated. Any twisting, grabbing or illegal use of a facemask will result in a 15-yard penalty.

Couldn't they already do this? They choose either to kick at the beginning of the game or receive.

Nope. In the past, whoever wins the toss has to decide to kick or receive in the first half. They do the opposite the second half. By deferring, they can delay that decision until the second half. By doing this, the non-winning coin toss team gets to decide what to do the first half.

Under the previous rule, NFL coaches almost always elected to receive the ball after winning the toss. College coaches defer more than 90% of the time. Just adds another option to the game.
