INDUSTRY’S LARGEST HD LINEUP

NHL Network HD Latest Example of DISH Network’s Best Variety in HD

Englewood, Colo. – Oct. 18, 2007 – DISH Network®, home of the best sports and movies in high definition (HD) as well as the best HD DVR in the industry, announced today the launch of its latest HD channel: NHL Network HD. This addition brings DISH Network’s national HD programming lineup to 75 channels – the most offered by any pay-TV provider in the United States.

“For the past two years, DISH Network has pioneered the HD revolution by offering consumers the most HD channels – a fact that still holds true today,” said Eric Sahl, senior vice president of Programming for DISH Network. “The addition of NHL Network HD is a score for hockey fans, who will benefit from the amazing graphic picture quality DishHD brings to the home viewing experience and who are now guaranteed to never miss a hat trick with the best HD DVR on the planet.”

NHL Network is the first national network dedicated entirely to hockey giving viewers unprecedented 24-hour access to the most comprehensive hockey coverage, both on and off the ice. NHL Network will broadcast 50 live regular-season games in addition to classic games, documentaries, instructional shows, highlights and more.

After hearing for over 2 years about the 'misleading' advertising and info being put out by DirecTV - you have to admit that this is about as misleading as it can get.

I hope that this is not the BEST they can do to respond to the recent D* channel additions.

I must say that besides the channel count (75) - I found the first sentence of the press release just as amusing (and just as erroneous):

DISH Network®, home of the best sports and movies in high definition

Oh please Charlie. Doesn't the NFL count as a sport? Or MLB? What sports do you have that other providers don't have (either SD or HD?

To be fair, DISH is currently offering more RSNs in HD...although that's sure to be temporary...throw in the new NHL network and Worldsport and for those of us who don't subscribe to Extra Innings or Sunday Ticket, E* DOES have more sports in HD...

There's a lot of conditional statements there. Bottom line is, Dish is pretty much making stuff up at this point.

It seems that both are doing the same. Direct use to, now Dish is doing the same about misleading. It is kinda like that fish that I caught that got bigger and bigger.:D

Not sure how that was especially conditional...MOST people don't subscribe to Extra Innings or Sunday Ticket...AND MORE parts of the country currently get RSNs from E*...seems to me that means more sports from E* for the greater number of us, no?

What I find ironic is that before E* had HD RSN's customers were requesting them and E* said that they were not going to launch the HD RSN's because, "there is not enough content."

Then, E* lost MLB EI and immediately they started lighting up HD RSN's to counter the loss. Fast forward to now and they are using the HD RSN's as a platform to declare, "we have the most HD sports progamming."

...funny...
