NOAA 18 Satellite Passing Overhead

By chance this morning, a little after 7, heard NOAA 18 weather satellite passing overhead on using a simple dongle-SDR.

Darn, I forgot how to use the program WXtoIMG, or I could have had a picture of the area from the satellite's view.

Here's NOAA 19, passing overhead around 3:30 this afternoon. Great lakes look pretty clear, East Coast has clouds.

Man, I need to try this out. I haven't messed with 137 in years. Used to use a MFJ Mulitmode unit to decode.

That's the spirit! A buddy of mine built a QFH antenna and gets great results. Here the antenna is a Radio Shack discone, but a QFH surely will bring in clearer pictures. WXtoIMG is a good program, it'll give you satellite pass predictions, plus it'll decode the signal from the satellite. Probably the only program you will need.

NOAA-15 was passing overheat at 6:16 am this morning, satellite pic of the East coast.

NOAA 15 and 18 were both passing simultaneously overhead this morning. JLENS was also up and running, to the right at 138.3.
