I have been using WD Elements EHDs for years and have many, mostly 500s or 1TB.

The oldest ones are now giving trouble. They are around 60% full, start up and populate the screen with all the shows, but won't play any of them. If I try to transfer a show, error msg 855 says Transfer Errors Detected. When I press the info button, on some shows it gives the info, and on others not.

Any ideas on a corrective action to take?

On the Hopper drive I will, on a very rare occasion, have a show that refuses to be transferred. I eventually have to delete it after many attempts. I can't remember if they were playable.

UPDATE

I re-booted the hopper and am now playing one of the recordings from an older EHD.
Before rebooting I was able to play programs recently recorded on all current EHDs, but not the older ones.
I haven't yet tried the other older EHDs.

Strange.
