I know that E* still has a few months to figure things out, but does anybody have an idea about what they are going to do about split locals in the Northeast and Florida (and anywhere else outside of the 129 footprint)? What is the likelihood that they would move the major metro locals to 110 or all the locals to 61.5? And where do HD locals fall in all this?

Echostar 10 is on the way to the sealaunch site now. If all goes well probably middle/end of March they should move it to 110 and start the transition.

It is expected that the Standard Definition (SD) split locals would be moved to 110 W once the E-10 satellite is launched and operational. E-10 is scheduled to launch sometime next month, February 06'. E-10 is a massive spotbeam satellite with over 4 times the spotbeam capacity of the E-8 satellite which is also located at 110 W. In regards to HD locals, some may come from E-10 but many will probably come from the Rainbow-1 satellite at 61.5 W. Below is the website address for the Echostar Knowledge Base that shows the spotbeams for all the Dish satellites including E-10 and Rainbow-1:
