Opening day and no yankee game on tv

Agree,
Or atleast don't complain about it.
YES not being on Dish is Nothing New.

Thtas true...

I was in the Army for 21 years. Grew up here in Massachusetts so have been a long time Sox fan even going back to the days when they could barley pack in 6000 fans. My last assignment was at Ft Devens right outside of Ayer where I live now. The cable company that serviced Ft Devens didn't carry NESN, so the only sox games we could watch were on Friday nights when channel 38 carried the game. This was 92-95 it wasn't until we bought a house that we could even get NESN (on cable). My point is sometimes your choice of tv provider is contingent on the programming they carry, sometimes you have no choice either.... If YES is important I guess the OP should go to Direct or a local cable oeprator that carries YES, if not don't complain!

Luckily baseball didn't fail in having a game be too long and drawn out and we were able to see the conclusion after 11pm. 4 hours of fun.. no thanks.

You must not be a fan?

I do not understand why someone that likes something would want it done quickly. If you like something, don't you want it to last a long time?

Also, in baseball, games that last long are ones in which there is a lot of scoring. Low scoring games end up quickly. And this was a good game. Back and forth with an comeback at the end. Could not have asked for anything better.

BTW, did you know that the average baseball game is about 30 shorter than the average NFL game? 2:54 for MLB and 3:14 for NFL

The average baseball game has a higher average score than that of the NFL (about 1 more per team and 2 more per game). Baseball average score is about 5 to 4 and football is about 27 to 21 (translates to 4 to 3).

I do agree that it is pretty pathetic that the game, which by the way was always scheduled for Sunday but was moved to 8pm from the usual 1:05, for ESPN's convenience, broadcast and then folks can't see it. I have no idea what the blackout rules are but it was sold out (all redsox games are sold out and have been for long time) so Yankees fan or not you should have been able to watch the game on ESPN.....

Folks around here were upset because traditionally opening day is an afternoon game on a weekday and those with and without tickets look forward to skipping out on work and school to go....and hang out around Fenway Park, especially since the weather has turned out to be so nice!
Game 1 was actually originally scheduled for Monday, April 5, with games 2 and 3 set for 4/7 and 4/8. Whenever game dates/times are changed for this reason the teams' RSNs still get to keep their broadcasting rights to the game, and ESPN's telecast gets blocked out in those markets. For games originally scheduled as Sunday night games, the RSNs do not normally provide a telecast at all.

Because of ESPN's request to move game 1 up, games 2 and 3 were also moved up to 4/6 and 4/7.

The game was suppose to be tomorrow but E$PN wanted it changed to tonight so it still is on NESN & YES for the local markets

Also Tuesday's game is on MLB Net (so blacked out) and Wed game is on ESPN again (so blacked out)

Why Yankee fans have Dish......I'll never know

That is why I left Dish, in order to get MSG-B in HD for Buffalo Sabres Games and YES HD for the Yankees. Now the only channel I am really missing that I want is NFL Network, but the Sabres and Yankees come first, whereas there is plenty of Football without the NFL Network being available on TWC.

C'mon...4 hours to complete a 9 inning game. Stop it.
What ever happened to the classic two hour and 20 minute 3-2 games where both starters went the distance?

I agree Dish Comm...3 hours is just fine...after that it better be extra innings

the scorebox said 3:46 for a 9-7 9 inning game? About a month ago on the MLB Net they had the Cubs/Phils 23-22 game from 1979....
23-22 in 10 innings
time of game 4:03 (at the end Jack Brickhouse says it)

Most games you plan for 3 hours
a Yankee game or Red Sox game for some reason you figure 4

Those went the way of the typewriter, having your gas pumped for you (except NJ ;)), and change back from your dollar at McDonalds. TV and the rise of the relief specialists have changed that forever....

I for one am not a huge baseball fan, but like the RedSox, and like to catch game here and there. I figured if the game was on ESPN, that we would be able to watch it. Unfortunatly I was wrong, but only figured it all out, long after my glorious 2 year contract was underway. So I am stuck for another 8 months.
As far as you guys saying don't bitch about it, isn't that what half of these forums are about? Bitching about prices, lack of channels, equiptment fee's, bad installs, billing problems, and so on and so on. Hell we should be able to let off a little steam over missing our opening day game.

You can, but YES has been well noted that its not on Dish Network.
Its never been on Dish since it launched.
We can only hope next year dish will finally pick this channel up.
YES, is possible next year

Not unless the Yankees or Dish is sold...
