No Fry's near MN

spiff...if you're close enough, a UHF only antenna will work fine even on VHF Hi

I use a UHF-120 antenna from Rat Shack and here in Minneapolis we have 9 & 11 digital (use to be on digital) and I still get 90% on the TV and converter boxes.....UHF channels are at 100%

Mine is the 4 element array and did not pick up any VHF. Took a standard wire coat hanger and cut off the hook and formed a folded dipole. Attached it to the lead in terminals and get VHF, including LP-VHF Analog.

Well, since I can say this and stay on subject here - during my Christmas break, I'm going to try my hand at a Gray-Hoverman - has anyone on here built one yet?

A two bay antenna. A good deal BUT I like my home made 4 bay better.

Thanks for the info. I use to keep track of the site and stopped a while back.

I built a GH about 6 months ago. It was pretty rough, I just wanted to see if it would work, then I intended to make a better one taking more time if it worked ok. It worked fine, my neighbour has it in his attic picking up a couple of uhf stations. The tower is only 15 miles away so I can't really say how good the antenna is for long range.
I used 14 gauge house wire for the elements and tin foil over cardboard for a reflector.

Yes, yes, it's not a lot of antenna. So, it's not for everyone. -
But not everybody will get off their dead ... behind, and build something.
Sometimes it's just easier to walk into a store and walk out with a $10 solution.
The Gray-Hoverman coat hanger and tin-foil sounds fantastic... but I haven't built one yet. - ;)

Last month, one member was going to put some rabbit ears in his attic.
I went looking for an antenna I had, to show him, and ran across this little beauty.
Channel Master CM 3010 Suburban STEALTHtenna (CM3010) - Channel Master - CM3010 - 020572030106 - CM 3010 CM-3010 CM-3010 CM 3010 channel master 3010A CM3010A CM-3010A CM 3010A 3010-A stealth staelth
It was inexpensive, and adequately rated for his service area.
I was surprised at the modest price.
Apparently he liked what he saw and got one.
Last I heard, he was getting great OTA from his attic-mounted antenna.

Never did find a picture of mine.
Old thing from Radio Shack (still new in the box, but long ago discontinued)
Looks like a Frisbee in the middle, and has two-foot wings, one out each side.
It's amplified, too.
Rated for light green (3rd level) service area, so no slouch as an antenna! :)

Yes the wires are stapled down but they need to be soldered to really work long term. I am about 38 miles out and have about 20 channels with my cheap conveter box.

Hmmm.... The G-H builds I've seen on the web report some pretty high gain stats... that's why I was curious if anyone here had tried them.
As far as the little bow-tie jobs I can throw those together in about 10 minutes. The G-H just looked a bit more intriguing...
