I have a friend who wants to put up a roof antenna for OTA.

There is an existing length of older DirecTV RG6 already available on the side of the house which could be used. It is 75ohm, 3.0 GHz, 18awg, 75c, CATV/CL2, in case any of that helps answer the question:

Would this cable be just as effective for OTA as non-satellite spec RG6 ? thanks in advance.

The only question would be how long has it been there unconnected? The braid and center conductor can become corroded if left exposed.

I would check each coax F connector end if still good. From my past experience with TV installers work some like to use twist on connectors not good for stopping water. I use crimped lug F connector ends the ground holds up better than the twisty ones. If you have crimped lug F connector ends you should be able to repurpose the coax system.
