OTA STB recommendations

My LG smart TV has the best OTA guide I've ever used. The guide is linear and populates guide data from the internet (see photo).

I have a "dumb" TV in my house that I need a guide for. Is there a STB that performs like the guide on my LG TV?

It would be preferable if it could also edit channels for incorrect guide data, modify channels, etc.

I don't want anything that's going to re-encode channels like Tablo.

How dumb is that tv set? Does it have HDMI inputs? If so, maybe just a cheap Firestick, and use the HDHR app? You still have your HDHR 4k Flex, right?

Does that tv set have HDMI input? Firestick or Roku on the dumb tv, and use the HDHR as your tuner. I'm unaware of ANY cheap OTA tv tuner that gets guide data from the internet. The HDHR does. $21.99 on sale now: Amazon product ASIN B091G4YP57

The Firestick for SURE can be set to a linear guide with the HDHR app. I thought there was a way to also do that on the Roku, but if so, I can't find that setting.

I think the Roku app will work fine for the dumb TV. Only thing that sucks is there's no audio on the ATSC 3.0 channels on Roku. The video is beautiful, but no sound.

The newest Roku Ultra has sound on ATSC 3.0 channels, but that's a lot more expensive than a Firestick.

Wal-Mart has a $20 STB that runs android. Yes you can install the HDHR app on it. ChannelsDVR app has a great guide that is customizable. And it amazing for that price. No ethernet wi-fi only.

If you have both an iPad and a HDHR tuner, install the free ChannelsDVR app on the iPad. You can use the free program guide from ChannelsDVR to view a 14 day OTA program guide, from Grace Notes/Zap2it.

Nickk (owner) at SiliconDust reports that this NEW Onn box, does NOT have AC-4 audio support, so no audio on ATSC 3.0 stations. So, not a good choice for this purpose. New Walmart ONN still at $19.99!! - Page 2 - Silicondust
