I have 127 marked...and I raised the dish and moved again..no dice. adjusted the skew difference...nothing. Grrrrrr...
How far from the dish to the tree and what's an estimated height of the tree?
If you are on a primestar 2.5" mount, you need to move the dish east approx 1/16th (plus or minus) of an inch on the pole mount to move the dish 4 degrees from 127 to 123. Good luck!
Sorry I was offline yesterday. Stogie, you're very close if you're at 127. Don't worry about skew, the four degrees won't matter that much. Also, elevation should not matter too much. Just VERY slowly move the dish east from 127. Make sure you're on a LIVE TRANSPONDER when you're looking at the quality meter, try 12114 (V) 4444... That's usually the strongest TP on G-10R.
These Ku sats are MUCH harder to hit than DirecTV or Dish birds, so very slow panning of the dish is necessary...
...on G10 I am using 11800 V 26600
symbol rate is 26660
if you think you're close, do a blind/smart scan
regardless if the bar is red or green, do a blind scan. It will pick up the frequencies whereever you areThat's the problem. On 127 the Coolsat signal bars turn green when signal is acquired, red when not. I tried to scan when the bars were red, no go.
GOT IT!
The main problem was the mast wasn't plumb. I broke the elevation bolt loose and it started flopping around so I had to take the reflector off the mount, get a spare mount, attach the reflector back to the mount, THEN I thought to check the mast for plumb...it was 2 degrees off each way...so I shimmed and wedged the platform until it was dead on 90 degrees on the angle finder. Set the elevation and skew..the elevation on the mount was DEAD wrong, I put the angle finder on the back of the mount and set it with that, turned the azimuth maybe five 1/8 inch times...VOILA!
I only have Vertical transponders until I get a multiswitch, so I am watching RetroJams right NOW!
SO I can go ahead and sink the pole in that position, knowing from there I can get G-10...I figured that was the worse spot to try and get a satellite...so I should be good to go...now on to Lowe's for some concrete! :clap
Thanks again to you ALL for your help. :up
SG-2100 seems to be a favorite around here, but the HH-100 and 120 are supposed to be able to support a heavier dish. They move VERY slowly however, from what I've read. SG-2100 has a useful reset button and a button control on the motor to move the motor from the install site.
Make sure you fill the fence post with cement while you have it mixed. That will solidify your mounting pole considerably. Use an angle finder on all sides of the post and check for plumbness frequently as the cement sets.
Did you get the "round" dish working on G-10R or the elliptical?
