[Edited the post and made some corrections]
Hi,

I recently upgraded from 508+811 to 622 receiver but i notice that the picture
quality in 622 is quite inferior to my previous 811 receiver. I tried both
both component (which is where 811's output went into my TV) and also the new
HDMI port of 622 and both show the same results on my samsung DLP.

The 622 PQ is not that bad but i can not compromise on this since i used to watch
with even better PQ on 811.
The 622 PQ shows some grainy look and the colors are seem to be little offset and showing some little greenish tinge. NFL and college football grass fields show
some grainy look which i never saw with my 811 box. I also noticed that the
SD picture is little grainy and my older 508 used to show little better PQ.

The signal strength on 119 and 129 is around 52-58%, does this cause
any issues? Also I had a DPP44 switch and a power inserter DPP44 that
was used for 811 and the technician used the same to connect the
622 by using a splitter and connected the two satellite inputs.
Do you think this causes some issues? Or is this 622 receiver itself
is bad? Will call Dish to get a techician to look at it. Any ideas
on what could be wrong.

Whu...????

Why the hell are you using a DP Adapter? All of your receivers are DP. Second of all, a DP Adapter is not needed even IF you had a Legacy receiver since you are using a DPP44 switch.

Right now I have a 811 and a 622 hooked to the same TV ( 921 died) pretty much same PQ on both (622 seemed to have better PQ than my dead 921)but the menus on the 811 look terrible compared to the same on the 921 and 622... make sure the 622 is setup right.. Menu>6 >8 and then 1080i etc.... also splitter?

A small correction to my post.

A small correction. I think mine is a power inserter for DPP44 and not a legacy dishpro adapter.

do we still need a power inserter (the lable on it says "power inserter DPP44"
and looks similar to legacy dishpro adapter and so I was confused.

One more example:

When watching HDNET "Smallville" or other programs like "Face 2 Face with Roy Firestone", I am used to seeing the faces as little fair and clear and now with
this 622 i see the faces as little blurred and darker instead of lighter.

So I seriously think either there is something wrong with my wiring or this 622
receiver

I have had an 811, 942, and 622 in the last year. I compared the 811 directly against the 942, the picture was essentially identical. I compared the 942 directly against the 622, the picture was essentially identical on component. Both comparisons were done on multiple HD channels.

Later I compared the 622 component vs HDMI and found the HDMI to be a bit sharper. So I would say that the best picture quality I have seen is from the 622's HDMI output.

I had to adjust a number of my TV settings for the 622, especially for the HDMI connection. Viewing the HDMI picture at the same TV settings as the component resulted in an inferior picture.
