Nice snapshots, thanks.

From several of the banners...

"timetrax supports SIRIUS, XM and broadcast radio"

Am I reading this correctly, does TimeTrax support traditional AM, FM, (or other?) BROADCAST radio? Is this new?

I suppose I could plug any audio source into my soundcard, and I could use the timer / schedule function to have it record. But clearly this is not a good solution. Is there a solution that can separate tracks and label songs from broadcast radio? Or was this just a mistake?

Does anybody have any info on this?

We had gone a bit off topic in another thread but here was the conversation:

It _appears_ to be a rebranding of someone else's technology, but I couldn't swear to that. It also appears that they will do song identification/tagging for you.

They have even got a page up on their site for it now: http://www.timetraxtech.com/ProductD...ductCode=71000

Yes, I see. Well, that is very interesting.

From reading the web site http://www.popcatcher.com of the technology developer, they seem to have worked out the means to identify talk and commercial content, which allows them to extract just what you want (Yes! You too can record commercials without any music interruption!). Reminds me of those DJ audition tapes, just lead ins and outs and 5 seconds of song. So that's part of it.

I wonder how they will ID the songs to provide Artist and Title. With so much radio consolidation in the USA there are only a few 1000 songs being played on 99% of the stations, but projects like CDDB show just how difficult it is to catalog everything, and the difficulties in creating a unique hash from real-world data.

And, I wonder if this technology will be used in all TimeTrax software? Many people have commented on problems with cutting songs based on the timing of the metadata change. I suspect that in some cases actually listening to the audio would provide better edits. However, I can think of several types of audio stream where this just will not work. As to the ability to ID a song, I wonder if that too would be used/available in all TimeTrax software? It seems like a waste when that information is right there for you to use (all 16 characters of it!), but how cool would it be to get artist and title from pre-produced shows (e.g. Midnight Special folk show).

Very very interesting.

Identifying the songs is easy these days. There are several services (outside the US) that allow you to call them on your cell phone and they identify the song that is currently playing. They match the music to information they have stored in a database. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an internet version available, even if it is only available to OEM's and developers.
