Blockbuster Rolls Out Summer Movie Rental Specials

McKinney, Texas – July 6, 2011 – Blockbuster L.L.C. is helping customers get out of the hot summer sun and into some cool movie rental deals with the launch of two new in-store promotions in which customers can enjoy a weekday matinee or a way to make their weekends last even longer.

Matinee Promotion:
How about a movie rental and a cool beverage for only $1.49? From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, customers can rent any DVD or Blu-ray movie normally priced at $1.99 or below for only $1.49 for the first night. As an added bonus, they can quench their thirst with a 20-ounce Coca-Cola product at no additional cost. All rentals are only 99 cents per day after the first day.

Lazy Days of Summer Promotion:

During the summer, Sundays are often a day of rest and relaxation. So Blockbuster is introducing the Lazy Days of Summer Promotion that can extend your weekend by offering a low priced movie rental for 49 cents. Every Sunday from July 10 through Sept. 4, movie fans are invited to get any $1.99 or 99-cent DVD or Blu-ray movie for only 49 cents for the first day. All rentals are only 99 cents per day after the first day.

“When customers want a movie right away on a hot afternoon, there’s no sweating summer at Blockbuster – they can simply walk into a participating Blockbuster store and pick out a low priced movie,” said Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Lewis at Blockbuster. “With these promotions, there’s never a better time to experience the best of what Blockbuster has to offer.”

Offers are good at participating BLOCKBUSTER® stores nationwide. See store for complete details. Some restrictions may apply.

We have a few in Orlando but with the price of gas you would be better off having them mailed to your home.

They closed about half of our Blockbusters, but there are a couple left open, but none near me. I have been enjoying Dish's 99 cent sale

If they would do it at cost on renting movies and doing the beverages, it might attract people into the stores to get some Dish Network customers. That might be an experiment that they could try. Or perhaps, give all customers free or reduced movie rentals. Heck, they could give all the Dish Network retailers an opportunity to become Blockbuster stores.
