should the broadcasters/suppliers let people know the actual priceing?
would it help or hurt the negotiations?

id like to know what direct is being charged for each channel, and what im paying.

it may help make the case for ala carte

just rambling

Pricelists with industry average rates have been posted before. Such as http://mediamemo.allthingsd.com/files/2010/03/cable-sub-fees.png

But there is a lot more to the negotiations. They try to force carriage of various channels in various tiers. Just because Dish/DIRECTV/Cable want a channel and will pay the list price does not mean they can have it. They might have to take a bunch of other channels and put them in the same tier to get the one channel they want.

For example if you want ESPN, Disney will make you take (and pay for) a bunch of their other channels.

It would be nice if that info was more current than 2009 pricing.
