After reading threads and viewing great photos by you fellow members, I finally broke down and got a STAB100 for the 75e. Used 2" PVC pipe cut down the middle to make the mount fit tight.

Right now I need a super hot TP on IA5 which is TS. Could anyone post one if the have time and access. Thanks fellas.

Ku or is this a mini-bud ?

This is just a KU Primestar. I don't think I could ever figure out the mini C band setups like some of you guys already have working. I just want to be able to flip between SBS6, AMC9, IA6, and G10R without having to go outside.

I have successfully got all these sats with my dish and Fortec LT Ultra. But since adding the Stab100 the other day, nothing but trouble. I am told that IA5 is my true south here in Columbus, OH....Can anyone confirm that? If it is IA5, I set the elevation on the motor to 40. Then mounted the dish with the stock mount onto the STAB with PVC to make it fit tight. Then I used the Primestar mount elevation to adjust until I got IA5 locked in--made everything tight, now not sure what to do. I would like to use USALS as Pete suggested in the review that it is easier. But when I select the sats I want in the antenna setup menu with USALS, and put in my LAT/LON as it asks, the dish will not move to say, SBS6, when I try to blind scan it. It usally stays on or near IA5. At one point I thought I had it, and the dish appeard to be moving to SBS, but I did not go far enough. So my thought is my true south is wrong, since the dish does not appear to be looking true south.

If you guys pros could help, I would much appreciate it. Thanks.

Are you giving it enough time? I have an H-H 90, it moves fairly quick most of the time. It also seems to move faster when on the horizontal polarity. But, I also have an H-H 120 (1.2 meter Fortec dish), it is very slow, compared to the H-H 90 (80cm Fortec dish). The H-H 120 is so slow, I have almost fallen asleep, waiting for it to go from Hispasat to Amazona's. And then, it has yet to lock to Amazona's going from east to west, maybe I don't give it enough time, I have to go to AMC 6 and get a lock, then go back to Amazona's. Other than it being slow, I've had no other issues so far. I've only had it a couple of weeks.

oh heck no....IA5 is closer to a line from the ND/MN border straight south

your TS in Columbus is AMC9 (83W)

Ice,
Appreciate your help, that may explain why the motor turns a smidge then stops while using USALS. That bird may be hard to tune, because I don't see any active digital transponders.. can someone list one that is currently active with current
TP and SRates? Or will the HughesNet ones work?

EDIT---
Nevermind.. Found the Masters analog feed. Thanks again Ice for the TS info. I hope this works.

Nimiq 2 circular , think there are some unscrambled radio channels ? T 5 is a fair ways from being your due south .

If it is IA5, I set the elevation on the motor to 40.

You DO NOT set the elevation on the motor , you set the latatude , if it has an elevation scale , pertend it does not exist .

Then mounted the dish with the stock mount onto the STAB with PVC to make it fit tight. Then I used the Primestar mount elevation to adjust until I got IA5 locked in--made everything tight, now not sure what to do. So my thought is my true south is wrong, since the dish does not appear to be looking true south.

That is probably exactly what is wrong .

Is the mounting pole plumb ? Have you got the dish mounted on the motor arm so that when the moter is at reference position ( middle ) , both the motor and the dish are pointing exactly the same direction ?

I usually srt my dish elevation by trial and error , but you may be able to do it with an angle finder , less than $ 10 at Harbor Freight .

There are data transponders on AMC9 that work real good for aiming :)

12140 V
12160 H
12180 V
all have symbol rate 30000

edit:woo hoo! 14000 posts :)

Wyr,
The chart you are using is outdated. It has AMC 9 at 85.0w, where it used to be. It is now at 83.0w and AMC 2 is at 85.0w. Thought you might like to know.

The javascript is fine as is. There is a text file that you can update. It tells you how / where the file is in the 'help' tab.

Attached is the list I use (1W - 148W)

Latitude, not elevation

Set the latitude on the motor. I'm not terribly too far west of you. What I did is used USALS to tell the motor to go to AMC3 which is a few degrees west of where you are. Then, adjusted elevation on the dish mount (not the motor) and peaked the north/south axis (rotate motor on the pole). The chart in the back of the manual will get you close to the elevation that you need to set your dish mount to.

Thanks fellas. I finally got it on AMC 9 last night after Ice kindly corrected my screw up on TS : )

The pole is plumb--I bought an inclinometer (can't spell it), and checked--its good. Armed with my motor, I will now set a new pole in concrete in the yard to clear a tree..

I set the stab100 marker to 40, as I am told is my latitude here. Then used the Primestar mount to peak it north/south then locked it down. I am still have trouble trying to get that thing set up in the menus with USALS to move to SBS6 and G10R for example. It moves, but power scans do not pick up anything. I will fiddle with it more this week, and set my new pole to make sure my angles are right..
Thanks for the help guys.

Oh, and Hammer, nice pic of the Primestar setup--that helped my setup mine.

When you said you used the Primestar mount to peak it north/south, do you mean the elevation on the primestar dish, or rotating the entire dish on the motor's pole? You can have it pointed correctly at one satellite, but still have the wrong setup, which might explain your troubles with SBS6 and G10R. Wonder if you have any problems hitting AMC5 which is the next one east of AMC9 (excluding the dss sat). There's some educational channels which are usually there and some horse racing. That might help pinpoint what is going on.

Thanks, that was my temporary setup. Bolted a StooperDish mount to a 3/4" piece of plywood and threw some concrete blocks on it. Made it nice so I could drag the thing around the yard and find a suitable location. It's been moved since then. Glad things are working out for you. You should have that tracking the arc in no time.

I guess I should have specified. My fault. I am just using the Primestar mount for north/south elevation only. I rotated the whole motor/dish assembly east/west on the pole to peak AMC9.

I have had my FT LT Ultra for over a year now. Should I be concerned with trying to update it to the latest factory firmware? It still appears that the satellite list is pretty accurate, considering all the relocations since I bought the box. I just wonder if the menu has any updates or if anything is significantly different. Also, would I need a null cable or just a straight through serial cable if anyone recommends the update?
