Good afternoon all.
I thought I had my set up good to go but that's not the case.
Since I am not an expert I am looking for HELP with my set up.
This is what I have set up at the moment.
10 ft. BUD with 4dtv receiver- with standard C/KU LNB. I added a viewsat 2000 to my set up about 3 weeks ago.
I connected it from the 4dtv OUT to the viewsat IN port thru a low frequency splitter and it worked just fine for a couple of days then started acting up on me, the signal just keeps jumping all over every second, been working with connections ( changed the spliiter for a high frequency that didn't help at all, but no pic., I get all black on my tv screen ). I have done a couple on factory reset that didn't help either.
When I blind scan hispasat I get S is 80 to 90 and Q 90-100 with the HF splitter but I don;t get pic,, with low frequency splitter S is 40-70 Q is 70-90, I do get pic. but it won't stay on.
Do I need different switch ? ( I have read about the cables have to be connected to a DiSEqC, is that what I need ? ).
Thanks in advance for your help.

I LOVE THIS FTA HOBBY.:)

Not being familiar with the Viewsat...what are the menu settings for the LNB(f) in the menu? Is there a voltage on-off? Diseqc off?

Was the 4DTV selecting the polarity for the TP?

Was an all port power passing splitter being used? Perhaps something was damaged.

Hi Corrado.
I don't think the unit is damaged ( otherwise I would not be able to get video at all- I do get video with the lower frequency spliiter connection it just comes and go all the time ).
The seetings in the menu for the LNB on the viewsat are universal or standard DiSEqC option is ON/OFF ( I don't have the switch, so I have it set on OFF.

Yes the 4dtv selects the Polarity of the TP's ( the viewsat gets all the signals thru the 4dtv OUT port, I tried connecting the coax cable stright from the dish but that way the viewsat don't get reception at all ).

I did call my tech last night and he mentioned something about the FTA receiver have to get constant high frequency ( bought the splitter late last night and tried it, but that set up didn't worked either ), so I'm all confused in what is it that I am missing to be able to get the video not to come in and go out every second.
I very much will apprecite any input you or other member can have for me.

Thanks.

... I tried connecting the coax cable stright from the dish but that way the viewsat don't get reception at all )...

Unless this is a typo...Try the viewsat by itself. The C band LO freq. should be 5150mhz or standard. Ku band should be 10750 is it was used by the 4DTV at some point.

What type of LNB is it? Servo controlled LNB or voltage controlled LNBF?

LNB servo crontrolled

Hi Corrado.
I am 99% sure the LNB it's servo crontrolled ( I have a small blue color box attached to the LNB, and I believe that's the servo correct ?, that's what change the polarity on my 4dtv ).
When I get home after work I will give it a try to your segestion and hope it'll fix the problem.
Thanks a million for your answers to my problem.

Found the solution to my connections problem.

After few connections changes in my hook up I did a factory reset on both the 4dtv and the viewsat and voila both working as it ahould be.:).
Connecting the high frequency splitter was a " NO NO ", it did messed up the skew in the 4dtv, that was the reason the viewsat was not able to maintain signal and quality.
My hook up now is standard C/KU LNB to the 4dtv and 4dtv out port coax cable in to a low frequency splitter and out to the viewsat.
The S is 65-75 and Q 70-80 ( and it was raining so not bad at all for Hispasat 30W ).
Corrado I did try your sugestion, but it didn't worked, dunno why though.
Anyhow, I do appreciated all your help.

My experience is....
The 4DTV polarity is opposite that of an FTA receiver.
So what the 4DTV shows as Vertical the Viewsat will show as Horizontal.
When using a Voltage Controlled LNBF, 4DTV and FTA, the 4DTV needs to be set to "Rotated 90" so the polarities match an FTA receiver.

Interesting I didn't have a clue.

Hi Lak7.
Very interesting observation, I didn't think of it for a second that could be the problem maintaining good S and Q. ( still working good as of last night ).
I will definitely look into it this weekend and rotate the lnb on the dish.
THANK YOU !!!.:up

Rotating the LNB 90 degrees.

Hi Lak7.
Well, I did give it a good " try ", but once I was on the top of my roof and tried to reach the feedhorn, lets just say I have an "altitude" problem, I'm 5'4" tall and that feedhorn must be at least 7 ft. to the center from my roof.
Thank you for the input though ( I will definitely will have it in the back of my head if both receivers start acting up ).
Both receivers are working good, I am just going to leave my set up as it is ( don't try to fix what's not broken LOL.... and I am not an expert ).
Here's my dish ( the mesh missing on it blew couple of weeks ago ), have spare one sitting in my garage for next time I need work to be done on it :).
