Purto Rico is not a US state, I don't think they are required to service there.

It is more likely Dish would simply end official service there. I honestly think they should consider that rather than the apparent anomosity of the subscribers there. For whatever reason Dish can't provide the same service as they do to the States and what they provide is apparently not enough.

Puerto Rico's population is over four million which if it were a state would rank it 26th in population.

Would not make good business sense to walk away from the PR market.

so the rice and chicken that we raise here in Arkansas should cost you the same if you were to buy it from us? Who picks up the extra cost to ship it to your territory? I don't think i would be doing so. it cost more for you all because you all are in an area that is difficult to serve. there are limitation to what service can be delivered and extra costs associated with hardware too. that act with the fines might cause your territory a lot, with companies pulling out because they don't want to be fined.

heck even Alaska and Hawaii are in the same boat and they are states! sorry, i feel for you but i don't see that act helping you out down there.

--- the chicken and rice raised in your state cost less here 'cause we buy in bulk and we pay for the delivery, not your state's sellers - we even has a name for the imported chicken: "amarillento y pelleju" - there is no limitations to access the 119, 110 and 61.5 satellites here with 80% to 100% signal quality in the CONUS transponders, only the discriminatory decisions made by dish network - and for the equipment, is the same as the states, i'm using a ViP922 with the everything pack, not provided by any of the technicians or sellers or for an upgrade, i bought it directly full price ---

First of all you need to understand that DISH Network is going to do whatever they want to do reguardless of the law.

Start playing the $10,000 per violation game with Charlie, and you'll wake up one morning and see that he shut down everyones service and just not provide service to Purto Rico until they decide that they are no longer going to fine the company.

As far as your 922, there is no lease or discount promotions for customers in Purto Rico. Apparently they don't need to offer a promotion, or more HDTV channels to help sell the service.

If it was competitive where you are at, then you would see free equipment offers and more programming to match what is in the 48 states.

I understand what your saying, but DISH Networks core business is for customers in the lower 48 states. As Technology gets better they will provide more HD channels to PR, but not today because all resources are being focused to compete with cable and Directv.

I also reside in Puerto Rico, and I have to agree with both Greiner and sethwell. I have been a Dish subscriber for over 10 years now, when you needed a six foot dish to get a trickle of a signal, when now you can get both 110 and 119 with one small dish. Dish Network is the best tv provider in Puerto Rico, period. They offer the best programming, the most HD, and most importantly, at a better price. Sure I want more HD channels, I would love to receive CBS, FOX, NBC and ABC on HD (now that the NFL it's about to start). But, I’m grateful for their efforts. Dish may be a slow train coming, but at least it is coming. Count me out of your class action suit.

The local goverment can do nothing I have been with dish since 99 its better than they other cable companies in the including including DirectvLatin America but Directv US will be here on May next year watch out Dish you can easily loose at lot of customers

Where u get that information Nel....that is news for me. DirectvLATAM sucks so much....I will take Onelink over it anyway.

Dish IMO is the best although I dont have any experience with Liberty cable...which some of my friends say is the best. Dish should be able to provide us in PR some more HD channels....esp the networks (ABC, FOX, NBC & CBS). But I am happy with Dish PLUS I can watch my sports (CRICKET (HD of Cricket needed (all of it), NBA & sometime MLB, Soccer, Tennis among others) with Dish only.

Yes Nel...link or an email like you did for ABC & Fox.

Competition is always good for consumers....& for business also since they get satisfied customers which is always good IMO

I wonder if Manteca read the document he posted:
"SECTION 2: ---would be considered discriminatory any significant differences in access, sales, products, goods, services, warranties and delivery that has no real justification based on shipping costs, taxes, fees, requirements imposed by the federal government or state-based constraints in licensing, contracts, permits, patents, copyrights or any other aspect which is directly or indirectly beyond the control of the business. The company that limits access, sales, product, product, service, warranty and delivery must provide proof that such limitation is justified."

Essentially the fact that Puerto Rico is geographically separated from the lower United States by over 1000 miles and the cost of providing service to that geographical region is beyond the control of the company. Alaska and Hawaii are also subject to the same restrictions. The only difference (and it's a big one) is that since their population voted for statehood (unlike PR) they have representation in Congress and were able to put stipulation in satellite legislation forcing local channels. But guess what? PR already has those!

Sometimes you get this type of information playing secret spy games! They will launch a new sat Directv around october or novembre that will hav beams for Puerto Rico!
Only certain people from DirectvLatin America knows this info! I already knew it for a month and yes Dish knows it already they have discussed this in their last meeting here in
Puerto Rico.
Dish had a big party here last month in Hotel Sheraton in San Juan there a couple of things that are coming that I can't say yet until they give me the wink!
