Is there a good antenna to use that would pick up local channels if the towers are 60 to 65 miles away?

Of course, a lot depends on the terrain between you and the station transmitters you are interested in receiving, but if you have no large hills between you and the towers you might well make it work.

I suggest you first google antennaweb, then go there and enter your zip code, and see what they recommend. If reception is available in your area they will show you which stations you might get, and they will recommend the type OTA antenna it will take in order to try and get those stations.

They are not a retail site, and will not try to sell you something. ;)

Remember they may be UHF now but the stations have to choose soon whether to keep the UHF or use the old VHF channel for their permanent assignment. Our KOAT is suppose to go back to 7. High VHF 7-13 are possible to get on some principally UHF antennas although not nearly as well as UHF. Low-VHF 2-6 are difficult -- read about the problems with CBS in Chicago on 3.

BTW, UHF used to go to 83 but the government wants to re-allocate 70-83 to cell phones or such.
