Ok, here's my latest entry into the dumb quesiton book...

What is the real difference between RG-6 and RG-6 Quad... I assume that the Quad has more shielding insulation??

Secondly, what would determine the need for RG-6 vs RG-6 Quad? Is one better suited to certain environments?

Help.......

quad is USUALLY swept to 3 gig

quad has more shielding and is ideal for blocking outside signals, like when running 18 or so bundled wires together

RG6 quad-shield 75 ohm coaxial cable for TV, CATV, SATV and CCTV applications. Low-loss for use on long runs. Aluminium braid and foil shield. Gas-injected (foamed) PE dielectric.

More shielding means less interference and longer runs.

Quad

No, quad wrap isn't necessary. I see the cable companies using it so I guess they have interference problems we don't have.
