Questions related to installing Directv minis

I have an HR 24 receiver which is connected to a powered splitter with the output provided to three different rooms. I also have a Genie HR 44. Directv is sending me 2 minis to connect to the HR 44. Questions:
1. Does connecting the mini to the HR 44 mean that the HDMI signal will be available to ALL my tvs, including those connected to the HDMI splitter.
2. Where is the second mini located and what is its function.

I read dozens of articles on the internet and haven't found answers to theses questions,

The mini is no different then adding another receiver, except it requires a tuner from the hr44 to operate.
