Re-activate Voom Motorola DSR-550

Hi,
I'm a first timer for the forum.
I just purachsed an as-is Voom Motorola DSR-550 and hoped that I could use it as a OTA HD receiver for my HD-ready TV.
It has a smart card in it. When I set it up and the screen said the equipment need to be re-activated and showed a 1-800-getvoom number.
Can someone experienced help me to resolve this issue or this receiver is no goo?

VOOM DBS is now defunct and you cannot activate the receiver; its only use is for parts.
